Job Summary
The Precious Metals Physical Trader will be responsible for sourcing,
trading, and managing physical precious metals, primarily gold, silver,
platinum, and palladium, within the Indian market. The role involves
executing physical trades, managing inventory and price risk, maintaining
relationships with suppliers, refiners, banks, jewelers, and institutional
clients, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. The trader
will monitor domestic and international bullion markets to identify trading
opportunities and optimize profitability.
Key Responsibilities
Trading & Market Operations

Execute physical precious metals trades (Gold, Silver, Platinum,
Palladium).

Manage daily bullion trading activities and pricing strategies.

Monitor international precious metals markets including spot, futures, and
forward markets.
-
Analyze market trends, macroeconomic developments, currency movements, and
geopolitical events affecting bullion prices.

Develop and implement trading strategies to maximize margins and
profitability.
Procurement & Supply Chain Management
-
Source precious metals from approved suppliers, refiners, banks, and
international counterparties.

Negotiate purchase and sale agreements with domestic and overseas clients.

Coordinate imports, exports, logistics, vaulting, and delivery schedules.

Monitor inventory levels and optimize stock management.
Risk Management
-
Manage market, price, liquidity, and counterparty risks.

Utilize hedging instruments including futures, forwards, and options where
applicable.

Monitor open positions and exposure limits.
-
Ensure adherence to risk management policies and trading mandates.
Client Relationship Management

Build and maintain relationships with:

Bullion dealers

Jewellery manufacturers

Banks and financial institutions

Provide market insights and pricing solutions to clients.

Identify new business opportunities and expand the customer base.
Regulatory & Compliance

Ensure compliance with:

SEBI regulations (where applicable)

Internal compliance and AML policies

Maintain accurate trade records and reporting documentation.
Reporting & Analysis

Prepare daily trading reports and profit-and-loss analysis.

Monitor market positions and inventory reports.

Conduct competitor and market intelligence analysis.

Present market outlooks and trading recommendations to management.
Required Qualifications
Experience

5–15 years of experience in:

Physical bullion trading

Precious metals markets

Commodity trading
-
Treasury or dealing operations
-
Strong understanding of Indian bullion market structure.
Technical Skills

Knowledge of precious metals pricing and market dynamics.

Experience with trading platforms and treasury systems.
