About the Role

EXL is looking for an experienced Azure Architect with strong expertise in Azure Databricks and modern cloud data architecture . The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing scalable, secure, and high-performance data solutions on Microsoft Azure and will work closely with engineering and business teams to deliver enterprise-grade data platforms.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and architect end-to-end data solutions on Microsoft Azure .
• Lead the architecture and implementation of Azure Databricks solutions for large-scale data processing.
• Design and implement Delta Lake and Delta Tables using modern data architecture patterns.
• Drive implementation of Unity Catalog for data governance, security, access control, and data discovery.
• Design scalable Medallion Architecture (Bronze, Silver, Gold) for enterprise data platforms.
• Provide technical leadership on PySpark, Spark SQL, and SQL based data engineering solutions.
• Design and integrate data pipelines using Azure Data Factory (ADF) and ADLS Gen2 .
• Ensure solutions follow best practices for security, scalability, performance, reliability, and cost optimization .
• Establish and maintain CI/CD and DevOps practices for Azure and Databricks deployments.
• Collaborate with stakeholders, developers, and data engineering teams to translate business requirements into technical architecture.
• Mentor engineering teams and provide technical guidance on Azure and Databricks best practices.

Required Skills

• 10–12 years of overall experience in Data Engineering / Cloud Architecture.
• Strong experience in Azure Architecture and Azure Cloud Services .
• Extensive hands-on experience with Azure Databricks .
• Strong expertise in Delta Lake and Delta Tables .
• Hands-on experience with Unity Catalog and Databricks governance.
• Strong proficiency in PySpark, Spark SQL, and SQL .
• Experience with Azure Data Factory and ADLS Gen2 .
• Strong understanding of Data Lake, Data Warehousing, Data Modeling, and Medallion Architecture .
• Experience with Azure DevOps, Git, CI/CD, and deployment automation .
• Strong understanding of Databricks performance optimization, security, and cost optimization .
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.

Good to Have

• Experience with Microsoft Fabric / Azure Synapse .
• Knowledge of Kafka / Azure Event Hubs .
• Experience with Terraform or Infrastructure as Code .
• Exposure to AI/ML or MLOps on Databricks .
• Relevant Azure or Databricks certifications .
