Role Summary

EXL Services is seeking an experienced Assistant Manager – Data Analyst (Securities Master Data) to support investment operations by managing security master data, asset setup, and investment pricing across global financial instruments. The role requires strong knowledge of capital markets, securities reference data, settlement processes, and pricing validation. The ideal candidate will possess excellent analytical skills, hands-on experience with Security Master File (SMF) maintenance, and proficiency in SQL for data validation and reconciliation.

Key Responsibilities

Security Master Data Management

• Create, maintain, and update securities within the Security Master File (SMF) throughout the lifecycle of financial instruments.
• Ensure accurate and timely asset setup across multiple investment products, including fixed income securities, bank loans, structured products, derivatives, private equity, corporate actions, and private placements.
• Maintain complete, accurate, and consistent security master data across OMS, accounting, risk, and downstream platforms.

Investment Pricing & Asset Setup

• Manage daily pricing activities for investment securities across global markets.
• Perform price validation, investigate pricing exceptions, and coordinate with external data vendors to resolve pricing gaps and coverage issues.
• Ensure timely and accurate maintenance of pricing and reference data supporting investment operations.

Data Validation & Analytics

• Use SQL to query, validate, reconcile, and analyze large datasets across multiple platforms, including Redshift and Snowflake.
• Identify, investigate, and resolve data discrepancies affecting downstream functions.
• Support management reporting and business analysis using SQL, Sigma, Power BI, and PowerPoint.

Operational Excellence

• Support Accounting, Risk, Compliance, Client Reporting, and Operations teams by resolving security master and pricing-related inquiries.
• Design, document, and execute data governance and maintenance processes to ensure data integrity.
• Identify operational risks within asset setup and pricing workflows and escalate issues appropriately.
• Participate in automation and continuous improvement initiatives, including responsible use of AI-enabled solutions to improve operational efficiency.
• Partner with IT teams for system enhancements, user acceptance testing (UAT), and implementation of data management solutions.
• Execute data management projects and operational initiatives while ensuring adherence to established SLAs and quality standards.

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong understanding of global financial markets and settlement lifecycle.
• Hands-on experience with Investment Pricing, Security Master File (SMF), and Asset Setup.
• Knowledge of financial instruments including:
  • Fixed Income Securities
  • Bonds
  • Bank Loans
  • Structured Products
  • Derivatives
  • Private Equity
  • Corporate Actions
  • Private Placements
• Experience performing pricing validation and security reference data management.
• Strong SQL skills with experience querying and reconciling large datasets.
• Exposure to data platforms such as Redshift and/or Snowflake.
• Working knowledge of reporting and visualization tools such as Sigma, Power BI, and Microsoft PowerPoint.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced global operations environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting investment operations, asset servicing, fund accounting, or securities reference data teams.
• Exposure to data governance frameworks and operational risk management.
• Familiarity with automation initiatives and AI-enabled operational solutions.
• Experience working with global investment management or financial services organizations.
