About the role
Job Summary
Towell Engineering Group is looking for a
Purchase Engineer/Purchase Manager
to manage procurement activities for its steel fabrication and
manufacturing operations. The role involves sourcing raw materials,
engineering items, and industrial consumables, developing vendor
relationships, negotiating commercial terms, and ensuring timely material
availability to support production while achieving cost, quality, and
delivery objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Procure steel raw materials including MS Plates, HR/CR Sheets, Structural Steel, Pipes, Tubes, Coils, Angles, Channels, Beams, and fabrication consumables.
- Source mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and engineering items required for manufacturing and fabrication.
- Obtain quotations, perform techno-commercial evaluations, and negotiate prices, payment terms, and delivery schedules.
- Prepare and release purchase orders through the ERP system and ensure timely procurement.
- Coordinate with Production, Planning, Stores, QA/QC, and Finance teams to meet material requirements.
- Track supplier performance on quality, delivery, and cost; implement vendor performance improvement initiatives.
- Expedite critical materials to ensure uninterrupted production.
- Drive cost-saving initiatives through strategic sourcing, alternate vendor development, and value engineering.
- Ensure compliance with company procurement policies and statutory requirements.
