Job Description
An exciting role, working as part of a growing team, responsible for the early
conceptual design through to FEED and detailed design of electrical systems in
the energy arena. Actively involved with the specification, and design of Low
Voltage (LV) and Medium Voltage (MV) and High Voltage(HV) electrical systems
in a CCGT power plant, solar/BESS and onshore and offshore wind. Ensuring
safe, continuous, and efficient power generation in compliance with statutory
and OEM standards.
Responsibilities
-
Develop complete LV (≤1 kV) and MV (3.3 kV, 6.6 kV, 11 kV, up to 33 kV)
electrical system designs for power plants and renewable energy systems
-
Prepare and review Single Line Diagrams (SLD), load lists, and system
architecture, understanding the basis fault level and earthing concepts.
-
Design auxiliary power systems for generation units and balance-of-plant
areas.
-
Equipment sizing and selection of MV & LV switchgear creating load lists
and understanding fault level requirements, and selecting circuit breaker
options (VCB, SF₆, ACB, MCCB),
-
Specification and sizing of power & auxiliary transformers, Motors,
MCCs, VFDs, soft starters, DG sets, UPS, and battery systems
-
Abilit to perform basic hand-calculations for short-circuit, voltage drop,
and motor starting.

Prepare protection logic diagrams, interlocking schemes, and cause &
effect matrices.
-
Perform Cable sizing and routing for LV & MV power and control cables.
-
Design earthing and grounding systems as per standards and soil resistivity.
-
Design plant and yard normal and emergency lighting systems.
-
Ensure compliance with IEC, IEEE, IS, NEC, utility grid codes, and client
specifications.
-
Review tender documents, technical specifications, and data sheets.
-
Interface with utilities and statutory authorities for approvals.
-
Prepare and check Electrical layout drawings, Cable schedules and routing
layouts, Equipment datasheets and BOQs
-
Support preparation of tender and bid engineering documents.
