Job Summary

Linxon is seeking a skilled Design Engineer – Primary Design to join its Power Transmission & Distribution team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the primary design and engineering of high-voltage substations and power transmission projects , ensuring compliance with client specifications, international standards, and project requirements. The candidate should have experience in AIS/GIS substation projects , preferably with exposure to international EPC projects across regions such as the Middle East, Africa, Europe, or other global markets.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare primary engineering deliverables for AIS/GIS substations and transmission projects .
Develop equipment layouts, General Arrangement (GA) drawings, section views, elevation drawings, and substation yard layouts .
Prepare Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), busbar layouts, equipment arrangements, and technical design calculations .
Perform electrical equipment selection and sizing for HV/EHV substations .
Prepare and review primary engineering drawings and documentation as per project requirements.
Coordinate with secondary design, civil, structural, protection & control, procurement, and project execution teams .
Review and technically evaluate vendor drawings and documents to ensure compliance with project specifications.
Coordinate with international vendors, consultants, clients, and internal engineering teams.
Support engineering activities during project execution, procurement, testing, and commissioning phases .
Ensure compliance with applicable IEC, IEEE, IS, utility/client standards, and international engineering practices .
Participate in technical discussions, design reviews, clarification meetings, and client/consultant interactions.
Support preparation of technical specifications, BOQs, material schedules, and engineering documentation.
Identify design issues and provide technically sound solutions to meet project schedules and quality requirements.
Work on international substation projects and coordinate engineering deliverables according to global project requirements.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering .
8+ years of relevant experience in Primary Design for HV/EHV substations, transmission, or power infrastructure projects.
Strong knowledge of AIS/GIS substation primary design , electrical layouts, equipment arrangement, and equipment selection.
Experience in preparation of GA drawings, equipment layouts, section drawings, busbar arrangements, SLDs, and primary engineering calculations .
Proficiency in AutoCAD and other relevant electrical engineering/design tools.
Experience in EPC projects within the Power Transmission & Distribution sector.
Good understanding of IEC, IEEE, IS and international utility/client standards .
Strong coordination skills with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
Good communication, technical documentation, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Experience

Experience working on 132kV, 220kV, 400kV or higher voltage substation projects .
Experience in AIS and/or GIS substation primary engineering .
Exposure to international projects , particularly in the Middle East, Africa, Europe, GCC, or other global markets .
Experience working with international utilities, consultants, EPC contractors, and clients.
Familiarity with international project specifications and utility standards.
Experience coordinating with global engineering, procurement, and project execution teams .
Exposure to projects involving Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait, Bahrain, Africa, or European markets will be an added advantage.
