Senior Data Engineer

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Data Engineer to join our data engineering team and play a key role in modernizing enterprise data platforms. This is a hands-on development role focused on migrating complex legacy SQL Server-based data processing into scalable, cloud-native solutions using Snowflake, dbt, and Azure Data Factory .

The ideal candidate should have strong experience in building modern data pipelines, implementing dimensional data models, and delivering end-to-end data migration projects. This role is execution-focused, requiring hands-on engineering expertise rather than solution architecture or reporting.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze and migrate complex SQL Server stored procedures into modern cloud-based data models.
• Develop scalable data transformation pipelines using Snowflake and dbt .
• Build and maintain Bronze, Silver, and Gold data layers.
• Design and implement fact tables, dimension tables, star schemas, and Kimball data models .
• Develop SCD Type 1 & Type 2 , incremental loading, batch processing, and CDC-based pipelines.
• Build and orchestrate ingestion workflows using Azure Data Factory .
• Create dbt models, macros, snapshots, tests, documentation, and YAML configurations.
• Perform source-to-target mapping, reconciliation, and data validation.
• Implement data quality checks and ensure data accuracy across pipelines.
• Support CI/CD deployments using Azure DevOps and Git.
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including data lineage, transformation logic, deployment processes, and handover documentation.
• Collaborate closely with technical leads and cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, scalable data engineering solutions.

Required Experience

• 7+ years of hands-on experience in Data Engineering.
• Strong experience with Snowflake and modern cloud data warehouse technologies.
• Hands-on experience with dbt Cloud or dbt Core .
• Experience developing and orchestrating pipelines using Azure Data Factory .
• Strong expertise in SQL Server/T-SQL , query optimization, and stored procedure migration.
• Experience delivering enterprise data migration or modernization projects.
• Hands-on experience implementing Kimball dimensional modeling , fact and dimension tables, and star schemas.
• Experience building scalable ETL/ELT pipelines, incremental loads, SCDs, and CDC processing.
• Good understanding of Azure DevOps, Git, CI/CD pipelines, and software development best practices.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with Databricks or Microsoft Fabric.
• Exposure to cloud-native data engineering architectures.
• Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
