About the Role

EXL is looking for an experienced Senior Data Engineer / Data Modeler with strong expertise in dimensional data modeling, SQL, data warehousing, and cloud technologies . The ideal candidate will have experience working with Banking and Financial Services clients and a strong understanding of both OLTP and OLAP environments .

This role requires a hands-on professional who can design scalable data models, understand complex business requirements, and contribute to enterprise-level data engineering and analytics initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable dimensional data models for enterprise data platforms.
• Build and optimize fact tables, dimension tables, star schemas, and data marts .
• Develop complex and optimized SQL queries for data extraction, transformation, and analysis.
• Work with OLTP and OLAP systems and understand their architecture and performance requirements.
• Translate business and functional requirements into effective data models and technical solutions.
• Collaborate with data engineers, architects, business stakeholders, and client teams.
• Support data warehouse development, ETL/ELT processes, and data integration initiatives.
• Analyze data structures and identify opportunities for performance and scalability improvements.
• Work with cloud-based data platforms, preferably AWS , with exposure to GCP or Azure also considered.
• Ensure data models follow enterprise standards for quality, governance, scalability, and performance.
• Participate in technical discussions and contribute to solution design and implementation.

Mandatory Skills

• 7–10+ years of Data Engineering / Data Modeling experience
• Strong expertise in Dimensional Data Modeling
• Advanced SQL
• Strong understanding of Data Warehousing
• Hands-on knowledge of OLAP and OLTP
• Experience with Banking / Financial Services / BFSI domain
• Experience with cloud technologies — AWS preferred
• Strong understanding of Kimball methodology, Star Schema, Facts & Dimensions
