Job Summary
The Control & Instrumentation (C&I) Designer is responsible for
developing detailed instrumentation and control system design deliverables
for industrial projects. The role includes preparing 2D drawings and 3D
models, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, reviewing vendor
documentation, and ensuring compliance with project specifications, industry
standards, and client requirements throughout the engineering lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities

Prepare and develop instrumentation design deliverables for FEED, detailed
engineering, and EPC projects.

Develop instrumentation layouts, instrument location plans, cable routing
layouts, junction box layouts, marshalling cabinet layouts, and control
room layouts.

Prepare hook-up drawings, installation details, wiring diagrams, loop
diagrams, interconnection diagrams, and cable schedules.

Prepare Instrument Index, I/O List, Junction Box Schedule, Cable Schedule,
Instrument Cable Routing, and Bill of Materials (BOM).

Develop and maintain 3D instrumentation models using SmartPlant 3D (SP3D),
AVEVA E3D/PDMS, or Autodesk Revit.

Coordinate instrumentation routing with piping, electrical, mechanical,
civil, and structural disciplines.

Review and incorporate vendor drawings and data into project deliverables.

Participate in model reviews, interdisciplinary design reviews, and
constructability reviews.

Ensure instrumentation designs comply with project specifications, client
standards, and applicable international codes.

Perform interdisciplinary squad checks and resolve design interface
issues.

Prepare material take-offs (MTO) and support quantity estimation
activities.

Assist engineering teams during procurement, construction, commissioning,
and start-up.

Provide field engineering support by resolving installation and
construction queries.

Ensure engineering deliverables are completed within project schedules
while maintaining quality standards.

Promote compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE)
requirements in all design activities.
Required Qualifications

Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Instrumentation, Electronics, Electrical
& Instrumentation, or a related engineering discipline.

3–10+ years of experience in instrumentation design for EPC, Oil &
Gas, Petrochemical, Chemical, Power, Metals & Mining, or Industrial
projects.

Experience preparing instrumentation design deliverables for greenfield
and brownfield projects.

Strong understanding of instrumentation installation practices and
industrial plant layouts.
