About the Role

We are looking for a Software Engineering Manager with strong Data Engineering expertise to lead and scale high-performing engineering teams across India and Europe , contributing to the development of a cloud-native, data-intensive SaaS platform used by global enterprises.

This is a hands-on engineering leadership role that combines people management, delivery ownership, and deep technical oversight in Data Engineering . You will work closely with Product Managers, Architects, and Engineering leaders in the US/EU , ensuring predictable delivery, scalable data platforms, and high engineering standards.

Key Responsibilities

1. Engineering Leadership & People Management

Build, lead, and scale Data Engineering teams in India.
Hire, mentor, and retain strong Data Engineers and senior technical talent .
Conduct regular 1:1s, performance reviews, and career development planning .
Coach engineers and tech leads on data architecture, engineering best practices, and leadership growth .

2. Delivery & Program Execution

Drive execution of the data platform and analytics roadmap in collaboration with global teams.
Ensure timely delivery of scalable, reliable, and secure data pipelines and platforms .
Lead agile execution, sprint planning, backlog prioritization, and release management .
Manage dependencies, risks, and timelines across distributed, multi-time-zone teams .

3. Technical Oversight – Data Engineering

Provide technical leadership on data architecture, data modeling, and pipeline design .
Partner with Architects to define standards for batch and streaming data processing .
Guide teams on ETL/ELT pipelines, data quality, observability, and reliability .
Ensure best practices in cloud-native data platforms, CI/CD for data pipelines, and DevOps/DataOps .
Balance delivery speed with long-term scalability, performance, and maintainability .

4. Stakeholder & Cross-Functional Collaboration

Act as a bridge between India-based Data Engineering teams and global product/engineering leadership .
Proactively communicate delivery status, technical risks, and mitigation plans .
Collaborate with Product Managers, Analytics teams, and Solution Architects .

5. Operational & Engineering Excellence

Define and track metrics related to data pipeline reliability, latency, quality, and cost efficiency .
Optimize engineering processes for distributed Data Engineering teams .
Support cost-effective scaling of data platforms while maintaining global standards.

Must-Have Requirements

10+ years of software engineering experience with significant hands-on experience in Data Engineering .
3–5+ years in an engineering management or technical leadership role.
Strong expertise in data engineering concepts : data modeling, ETL/ELT, batch & streaming pipelines.
Hands-on experience with cloud data platforms (AWS/GCP) and data services (e.g., BigQuery, Redshift, Snowflake, Databricks).
Experience with distributed data processing frameworks (Spark, Kafka, Flink or similar).
Strong understanding of microservices, CI/CD, DevOps/DataOps practices .
Experience managing distributed teams across India, Europe, and the US .
Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and execution skills .

Preferred / Nice-to-Have

Experience with B2B SaaS platforms in eCommerce, AdTech, or analytics-driven products .
Exposure to real-time analytics and high-volume data platforms .
Experience with Agile-at-scale frameworks (SAFe, LeSS, Nexus).
Prior experience in a US/EU-headquartered SaaS organization .
Background in Technical Program Management .
