Job Purpose

The role is accountable for two key engineering and leadership objectives:

One as head of engineering for NR factory to drive engineering best practices and innovations for the NR factory setup at the enterprise level.
Two since NR factory is an anchor program at the new Guwahati factory; this role involves playing the key leadership role in setting up a local cross-program engineering unit Guwahati handholding a large team of campus graduates and some laterals.

To meet these two objectives, the person must have thorough understanding of NR customer experience along with deep engineering expertise on a modern tech stack including but not limited to GenAI, Cloud Technologies and Microservices architecture. Person should also have extensive experience of managing regionally, culturally and skill-wise distributed engineering teams to deliver outcomes in addition to mentoring engineers on a learning path. The Engineering Head must have good leadership skills, believes in a non-hierarchical culture of collaboration, transparency, safety, and trust as it involves working with culturally diverse teams.

Responsibilities

Lead Engineering & Capabilities	Responsibilities
Lead Engineering	Setup engineering capabilities from ground up including but not limited to Full Stack Engineering, GenAI, Cloud Architecture Technologies and DevSecOps. Help Transform NR Business by implementing industry best solutions in a factory model to engineer new platforms, and reusable assets while driving efficiency and quality. Engineer world class completely digital, fully automated no human touch digital banking experience for NR customers. Design complex software systems for high-end solutions independently and determine overall architectural principles, frameworks and standards. Optimize Path to Production and maintain engineering best practices such as test-driven development and continuous integration and delivery. Optimize control and predictability over Engineering Best Practices, Product Quality, Program Timelines and Outcome. Communicate with internal stakeholders regarding all engineering related principles and practices.
Leadership and Mentoring	Guide the teams on program engineering and ensure evidence-based continuous improvement of value, flow, and quality-focused on delivering value to end-customers early and often. Establish an engineering maturity model and architecture principles to drive better tech/engineering governance for the work being done out of the Guwahati Factory. For Guwahati factory, drive standardization of engineering ways of working and using a standard toolset to drive efficiency. Coach technical leads / engineers and provide ad-hoc problem solving support, including hands-on pairing when needed. Independently deliver end to end engineering program in a hub (Gurgaon) and spoke (Guwahati) model.
Manage day-to-day activities of technical sprints	Define clear goals for all aspects of a project and manage their proper execution. Account for possible project challenges on constraints including, risks, time, resources and scope. Provide updates to key stakeholders on product development processes, costs, and budgets.
Lead Innovation and Brand Building	Builds the bank’s brand in the technology community as an engineering leader and a hub for engineering talent. Deliver engineering talks, seminars in Assam and NE colleges. Work with other solution and enterprise architects to build best-in-class solutions and integrations across products. Continually research current and emerging technologies and propose new changes where needed. Drive innovation group to think about roadmap of future, while evaluating competitive landscape. Oversee all administrative aspects of the Guwahati centre, including facilities, tech vendor partner engagements, and statutory compliance (as Tech & Digital).
Governance and Compliance for Guwahati Centre	Ensure workplace safety, employee engagement, and adherence to HR guidelines. Manage headcount budgets for location operations and optimise resource utilisation. Represent the Guwahati centre in leadership forums and programme reviews.

Educational Qualifications

Experience	13 to 15 years of proven track record to setting up, leading and managing a geographically and culturally diverse engineering team.
Mentoring	Experience in mentoring engineering teams towards craft excellence.
Multitasking	Track record of handling extreme multitasking in terms of programs / projects / teams / initiatives.
Large Scale Projects	Worked in engineering projects for large scale Banks / Fintech / Insurers etc.
GenAI and LLM Stack	Strong hands-on experience on GenAI and LLM Stack – GPT, LangChain, Transformer models, Vector DB, RAG Pipeline etc.
Full Stack Development	Strong hands-on experience Full Stack development - Java/NodeJS/GoLang, Hibernate, Angular, React, Spring Boot, Rust, Web stack, Kubernetes, SQL and No-SQL databases.
Engineering Practices	Experience in engineering practices such as code refactoring, design patterns, design driven development, continuous integration, building highly scalable applications, application security.
Systems Design	Strong systems design experience with data structures and algorithms, strong architectural knowledge in microservice architectures.
Project Delivery	Led more than one large scale project to delivery. Technology thought leader for a team of 10+ developers/ senior developers.
Cloud-Native Applications	Extensive experience in building cloud-native applications (AWS / Azure).
Observability Architectures	Experience in building enterprise grade observability architectures for monitoring.
Event-Driven Architectures	Experience on event-driven architectures Kafka, Orchestration and Choreography architectures.
Distributed Caching	Distributed caching, CDN scalable shared nothing architectures.
API Gateways	API gateways (Apigee/APIM/Kong).
Analytical Skills	Analytical and problem-solving skills paired with the ability to develop creative and efficient solutions.
