Job Summary
The Structural Designer is responsible for preparing and developing
structural design deliverables for industrial, commercial, and
infrastructure projects. The role involves producing accurate 2D drawings
and 3D models, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, ensuring
compliance with applicable codes and standards, and supporting engineering
throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities

Prepare structural GA drawings, fabrication drawings, and detailed
construction drawings.

Develop and maintain 3D structural models using SmartPlant 3D (SP3D),
Tekla Structures, Autodesk Revit, or other applicable software.

Produce structural layouts for steel structures, concrete foundations,
platforms, pipe racks, equipment supports, buildings, and miscellaneous
steel.

Prepare detailed drawings including plans, elevations, sections, and
connection details.

Coordinate with Civil, Mechanical, Piping, Electrical, and Instrumentation
disciplines to resolve design clashes and interface issues.

Participate in 3D model reviews and implement review comments.

Ensure drawings comply with project specifications, client requirements,
and applicable industry codes and standards.

Perform self-checks and participate in interdisciplinary squad checks to
maintain drawing quality.

Review vendor drawings and incorporate approved information into
structural design documents.

Prepare material take-offs (MTO) and assist in quantity estimation.

Support engineering teams during procurement, construction, and
commissioning phases.

Assist with field engineering activities, responding to site queries and
resolving construction-related design issues.

Maintain project documentation and ensure timely issuance of engineering
deliverables.

Follow project schedules while meeting quality, safety, and client
requirements.

Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and standardization of
design practices.
Required Qualifications

Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or a related
discipline.

3–10+ years of experience in structural design for EPC, oil & gas,
petrochemical, power, industrial, or infrastructure projects.

Experience in preparing structural drawings for steel and reinforced
concrete structures.

Proficiency in AutoCAD and at least one 3D modeling software such as
SmartPlant 3D (SP3D), Tekla Structures, Autodesk Revit, or PDMS/E3D.

Strong understanding of structural detailing standards and engineering
drawing practices.

Knowledge of AISC, IS, BS, Eurocode, or other applicable structural design
standards.

Familiarity with fabrication and construction practices for steel and
concrete structures.

Experience with material take-offs and quantity estimation.

Ability to interpret structural calculations and engineering design
documents.

Strong coordination and communication skills.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary
project teams.
