Intermediate Project Controls Specialist
Position Summary
The Intermediate Project Controls Specialist supports the Project Control
Manager in delivering effective project controls across assigned projects.
This role is responsible for maintaining cost, schedule, forecasting, and
reporting activities, providing accurate project performance data, and
supporting informed decision‑making.
Working closely with Project Managers, discipline leads, and PCM, the
Intermediate Project Controls Specialist ensures project controls processes
are applied consistently and in accordance with established standards.
Key Responsibilities
Cost Control & Forecasting

Support development and maintenance of project budgets, cost baselines, and
cash flow forecasts.
- Prepare regular cost reports, variance analyses, and trend logs.

Assist with Estimate at Completion (EAC) updates and forecasting exercises.
Reporting & Performance Monitoring

Prepare project performance dashboards and monthly reporting packages.
- Ensure accuracy, consistency, and clarity of project controls data.

Support governance reviews, audits, and internal management reporting.
Change & Risk Support
- Assist with identifying, evaluating, and tracking project changes.
- Support cost and schedule impact assessments for change requests.
- Maintain risk logs and support monitoring of mitigation actions.
- Support contingency tracking and usage reporting.
Process & Standards Support

Apply project controls procedures, templates, and best practices established
by the PCM.

Support continuous improvement initiatives within project controls
processes.

Assist in maintaining alignment between cost, schedule, risk, and contract
data.
Qualifications & Experience
Education
-
8-12 years of experience in project controls, cost control, scheduling, or
related roles.

Experience supporting medium to large multidisciplinary projects in
infrastructure, water/wastewater, transportation, energy, or industrial
sectors.

Experience working under the direction of a Project Control Manager or
Project Manager.
Technical Skills

Working knowledge of:
- Cost tracking and forecasting
- Scheduling tools (Primavera P6 and/or MS Project)
- Change management and risk tracking

Strong proficiency in Excel; experience with Power BI or reporting tools is
an asset.

Familiarity with project controls systems and ERP platforms is preferred.
