Job Purpose
To diagnose, rehabilitate, and enhance the performance of underperforming suppliers facing challenges in quality, capacity, and operational delivery. The role is responsible for conducting detailed process audits, providing on-site technical support, resolving chronic production issues, improving manufacturing processes, and reducing supplier defect levels (PPM) to ensure consistent product quality and supply reliability.
Key Responsibilities
A. Process Audits & Gap Analysis (30%)
- Conduct detailed on-site audits at supplier manufacturing facilities.
- Identify and analyze end-to-end manufacturing process bottlenecks.
- Evaluate production line capability, tooling condition, and operator compliance.
- Recommend and drive corrective actions to close identified gaps.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
- Improvement in QAV checklist scores.
- Number of process vulnerabilities identified and resolved.
B. Supplier Development & Issue Resolution (30%)
- Provide hands-on technical support to suppliers for daily production challenges.
- Re-establish and strengthen process controls, including PQCS, PFMEA, and Control Plans.
- Resolve complex issues related to electrical, electronic, and imported components.
- Ensure timely closure of supplier quality concerns.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
- Closure rate of production trial issues.
- Resolution time for critical production line stoppages.
C. PPM Reduction & Quality Improvement (20%)
- Analyze defect trends using quality tools such as SPC and MSA.
- Lead root cause analysis using structured problem-solving methodologies (8D).
- Conduct verification audits and product inspections before shipment.
- Drive continuous quality improvement initiatives at supplier locations.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
- Reduction in Supplier PPM.
- Reduction in incoming material rejection rates.
Job Complexity
- Coordinate with multiple internal and external stakeholders to resolve supplier-related quality and capacity issues.
- Manage technical assessments and improvement initiatives across supplier facilities.
- Evaluate and validate complex mechanical, electrical, electronic, and imported proprietary components.
- Ensure timely closure of discrepancies impacting project timelines and product quality.
Educational Qualification
- B.Tech / B.E. in Mechanical, Electrical, or Electronics Engineering.
Experience
- 9 to 12 years of experience in Part Development, Supplier Quality, Supplier Development, or related functions within the automotive industry.
- Components - Brake Systems, Suspension Systems, Wheel Assemblies, ACGs (Alternating Current Generators), Starter Motors, Electrical Switches, Lighting Systems, Speedometers and Instrument Clusters, Wire Harnesses, and Electric Vehicle (EV) Components.
