About the Role
We’re looking for a hospitality-focused Commercial Real Estate Analyst to join our growing team. In this role, you’ll support both the underwriting and servicing teams by evaluating new loan opportunities, monitoring existing loans, and assessing overall portfolio health. You’ll be responsible for preparing credit memos and loan reviews, identifying key risks and mitigants, and managing the end-to-end disbursement and annual review processes.---
Key Responsibilities
Underwriting & Credit Analysis
· Credit Analysis: Review and interpret U.S. GAAP financials, including Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow statements. Prepare initial credit pre-screens for hotel deals, identify red flags and information gaps for the underwriting team.
· Credit Memo Preparation: Draft comprehensive credit memos with clear risk mitigants—summarizing business models, historical performance, projections, collateral value, covenant structure, and debt service capacity. Ensure adherence to credit policy, legal covenants, and internal controls. Document any exceptions with defined escalation paths and timeline commitments.
· Risk Identification & Mitigation: Clearly articulate key credit risks (e.g., market, construction, sponsor quality, cash flow volatility) and propose mitigants (e.g., additional collateral, equity cures, covenants, reserve accounts).
Servicing & Client Interaction
· Annual Loan Reviews: Engage with U.S. sponsors and borrowers to collect updated financials, operating reports, insurance certificates, and compliance documents.
· Compliance Monitoring: Draft concise servicing notes summarizing loan compliance status, covenant breaches (if any), required remedial actions, and
timelines for resolution. Conduct periodic risk-rating exercises on active loans—tracking early warning indicators and recommending corrective actions.
· Disbursement Support: Participate in reviewing draw requests—validating budgets, lien searches, construction draws, and funding approvals.
Reporting & Tools
· Excel Modeling: Build and maintain financial models, including sensitivity analyses, DSCR calculations, cash flow waterfalls, draw schedules, and covenant testing templates.
· CRM & Loan Platforms: Maintain borrower records, track action items, and ensure timely and accurate documentation in the loan servicing system.
· Communication: Communicate in fluent, professional English (oral and written) across memos, emails, client calls, and internal presentations.
