We are establishing a Metallics Methods Engineering Team and are looking for experienced professionals to develop, standardize, and optimize manufacturing processes for metallic components. The role involves strong technical expertise in metals and metallurgy, manufacturing process planning, methods engineering, quality compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives. The candidate will work closely with design, production, quality, and supply chain teams to ensure robust, cost-effective, and high-quality manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities
1. Materials & Metallurgy
• Apply strong knowledge of ferrous and non-ferrous metals (steel, aluminum, titanium, nickel alloys, etc.).
• Understand and evaluate material properties including strength, hardness, fatigue, and corrosion resistance.
• Support and optimize metallurgy processes such as: o Heat treatment o Casting o Forging o Machining o Welding and brazing o Surface treatments (anodizing, plating, coatings)
• Ensure compliance with material standards and certifications including: o ASTM International o International Organization for Standardization o SAE International (AMS standards)
2. Manufacturing Process Engineering
• Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and work instructions.
• Design and implement manufacturing process flows for metallic components.
• Apply DFM/DFA principles to enhance manufacturability and assembly efficiency.
• Support and optimize: o CNC machining processes o Sheet metal fabrication o Tooling and fixture design o Lean manufacturing practices
• Define equipment specifications and drive process optimization initiatives.
3. Methods Engineering
• Conduct time studies, calculate takt time, and perform line balancing.
• Perform process mapping (VSM, SIPOC, PFMEA).
• Create and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) and routers.
• Define process parameters and reduce cycle time.
• Drive productivity improvement, ergonomics enhancement, and cost reduction.
4. CAD & Digital Tools
• Proficiency in one or more CAD tools such as: o CATIA o SolidWorks o AutoCAD o Siemens NX • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and GD&T.
• Familiarity with CAM software and simulation tools (FEA, thermal analysis) is an advantage.
5. Quality & Compliance
• Working knowledge of quality systems such as: o ISO 9001 o AS9100 o IATF 16949
• Conduct root cause analysis using 5Why, Ishikawa, and DMAIC methodologies.
• Experience with FAI, PPAP, APQP, SPC, and process control charts.
6. Problem Solving & Continuous Improvement
• Troubleshoot and resolve manufacturing and production issues.
• Analyze data using advanced Excel and tools like Minitab.
• Lead Kaizen and Six Sigma initiatives for continuous improvement.
7. Project & Stakeholder Management
• Manage cross-functional projects involving design, manufacturing, procurement, and supplies.
• Coordinate new product introduction (NPI) activities.
• Train operators and production teams on updated processes.
• Ensure accurate documentation and reporting of process changes.
