FINANCE CONTROLLER – AGRI COMMODITIES

JOB OVERVIEW
The Finance Controller oversees financial governance, reporting, costing,
treasury,
compliance, and operational finance across Nigerian agri-commodity operations.
The role
partners across procurement, sales, operations, warehousing, and logistics to
drive
profitability, control, transparency, and performance improvements.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Reporting & Controls
Prepare daily–annual MIS and management accounts.
Lead month-end close: bank, debtor, creditor, and stock reconciliation.
Ensure accurate and timely financial statements.
Prepare annual budgets and conduct variance analysis.
Costing, Margins & Profitability
Analyse procurement and landed costs.
Support pricing and margin strategy.
Reconcile cost accounts with financial accounts.
Run contribution and scenario modelling.
Treasury, Cashflow & FX Management
Manage liquidity, credit facilities, banking relations.
Prepare rolling cashflow forecasts.
Oversee receivables, payables, and credit control.
Manage FX exposure and hedging.
Statutory Compliance & Audit
Ensure compliance with FIRS and state/local tax authorities.
Coordinate statutory audits and annual returns.
Strengthen internal controls and governance.
Inventory & Operations Finance
Oversee stock valuation (RM/WIP/FG).
Conduct stock counts and settle variances.
Analyse logistics and warehousing costs.
Improve supply-chain cost visibility.
Business Partnering & Leadership
Support procurement, sales, operations, logistics.
Present insights clearly to stakeholders.
Drive business improvements and accountability.
Develop finance team capability.

EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
Qualifications & Experience
CA / ACCA / CPA or equivalent.
8–10 years experience in agri-commodities.
Africa-region experience preferred.
ERP proficiency: Tally, Navision, Pastel.
Technical Competencies
Commodity pricing and cost structure expertise.
Advanced Excel and PowerPoint.
Treasury, cashflow, credit and risk management.
Audit compliance and internal control understanding.
Communication & Behavioural Skills
Clear communication and strong presentations.
Ability to simplify finance for non-finance teams.
Analytical, detail-oriented and proactive.
Collaborative, improvement-driven mindset.
