IIT Kanpur Development Foundation (IITK DF) is a Section 8, not-for-profit, company established by IIT Kanpur to engage with external stakeholders like Alumni, Corporates, Foundations, and Philanthropists in India and across the globe, and to raise funds to meet its long-term growth aspirations. Such offices are called ‘development offices’ in universities of global repute and usually have a staffing of 1 for every 1,000 alumni. This role requires a strong execution-oriented project manager capable of handling multi-stakeholder construction and infrastructure projects in a fast-paced development office environment, with high accountability for donor-facing reporting and on-the-ground delivery.
IITKDF seeks to appoint a Project manager and a change agent as defined below:
Position : Project Manager
Location : IIT Kanpur Development Foundation (IITKDF), Kanpur
Reporting to : Vice President – Programs and Projects
Responsibilities and Expectations
· Own and drive end-to-end execution of assigned projects, from planning to closure.
· Monitor project timelines, budgets, risks, dependencies, and stakeholder commitments; proactively escalate delays and execution risks.
· Liaise with internal stakeholders, architects, consultants, contractors, Institute departments, and vendors to ensure timely project execution and milestone achievement.
· Coordinate and oversee project-related infrastructure development, ensuring adherence to quality standards, technical specifications, and safety protocols.
· Conduct regular field visits to manage on-ground operations, troubleshoot site-specific challenges, and maintain direct engagement with stakeholders.
· Maintain and update project data, donor records, budgets, utilization trackers, and project documentation.
· Create, execute, and oversee plans to engage donors and beneficiaries; track collection of beneficiary reports and supporting documents.
· Support donor reporting initiatives, prepare project updates, utilization reports, proposals, MoUs, and presentations related to fundraising and programs.
· Generate reports, collate data, and provide insights as required by management and stakeholders.
· Identify risks early, maintain issue and risk logs, propose mitigation measures, and ensure timely closure.
· Demonstrate the ability to work independently and as part of a team; be detail-oriented, well-organized, focused, and solution-driven.
· Be flexible and willing to take on additional responsibilities as required by the organization from time to time.

· Outstanding verbal, written, and digital communication skills, along with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
· Experience in infrastructure, construction, real estate, campus development, engineering projects, or project/program management will be preferred.
· Strong attention to detail and familiarity with terminology used in legal agreements, contracts, and project documentation.
· A clear and confident communication style that demonstrates professionalism, integrity, and stakeholder management skills.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word) and tools such as Zoho.
· Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience.
· Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
· High energy, adaptability, and willingness to work in a fast-paced, start-up environment.
