ROLE OVERVIEW
We are seeking a highly experienced, hands-on Mechanical Maintenance &
Reliability Engineer with a strong
background in the plastics and packaging manufacturing industry. This role
goes beyond standard breakdown
maintenance — the successful candidate will be responsible for permanently
resolving recurring machine
problems, improving equipment reliability, and eliminating daily breakdowns
across a diverse fleet of
extrusion, thermoforming, blown film, and printing/converting equipment.
PLANT & EQUIPMENT PROFILE
The successful candidate will be responsible for the reliability and
maintenance of the following equipment:
• PP Sheet Extrusion lines
• PP Thermoforming multi-station machines (GT, Inpak)
• Multilayer Blown Film Extrusion lines
• Rotogravure and CI Flexo printing/converting equipment
• W&H (Windmöller & Hölscher) multilayer film and flexo
printing lines
• PE Washing and Recycling extruder lines
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
Minimum 8–12 years of strong, hands-on industrial maintenance experience,
preferably covering:
• Extrusion Blow Moulding, Injection Moulding, Thermoforming, Sheet Extrusion,
and Blown Film Extrusion
• Printing and converting equipment, including rotogravure and CI flexo
presses
• Auxiliary equipment including compressors, chillers, pumps, conveyors, and
material-handling systems
• Hydraulic and pneumatic systems
• Gearboxes, bearings, pumps, motors, shafts, chains, and mechanical drive
systems
• PLC-controlled machinery, VFDs, sensors, and industrial automation
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY — PERMANENT PROBLEM SOLVING
We require an engineer who implements permanent engineering solutions rather
than performing temporary
repairs or continuously replacing the same parts. Every significant or
recurring breakdown must be
investigated through proper Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to establish what
failed, why it failed, why it recurred,
and how to prevent it from happening again.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Personally troubleshoot complex and repetitive mechanical breakdowns
• Conduct detailed RCA using 5-Why, Fishbone, Failure Analysis, and CAPA
methodologies
• Identify weak machine components, poor designs, incorrect operating
conditions, and maintenance
deficiencies
• Recommend and implement engineering modifications and machine improvements
• Establish strong preventive and predictive maintenance programs, including
condition monitoring and
maintenance schedules
• Maintain complete machine history records and analyze downtime to identify
components responsible for
production losses
• Establish and monitor MTBF, MTTR, OEE, downtime, and PM-compliance KPIs
• Develop critical spare-parts lists to ensure essential inventory is always
available
• Lead machine overhauls, installations, commissioning, and major repairs
• Communicate directly with international machine manufacturers and technical
specialists when required
• Read and understand mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic drawings and
technical manuals
• Train maintenance technicians and develop SOPs and maintenance standards for
all major equipment
CANDIDATE PROFILE
• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent engineering qualification
• Minimum 8–12 years of relevant industrial experience, preferably in
plastics/packaging manufacturing
• Extremely strong mechanical troubleshooting capability alongside a solid
understanding of hydraulics,
pneumatics, and industrial automation
• A hands-on engineer willing to spend significant time on the factory floor
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to work independently and take
ownership of difficult technical problems
• Experience implementing TPM, preventive/predictive maintenance, and
reliability improvement programs
• Bachelor (single) status, willing to relocate for a 2-year contract term
