Job Title: Electrical & Instrumentation Engineer (Shift Engineer)
Department: Asset care - Electrical Engineering / Maintenance
Location: Tradekings Homecare Ltd
Reports To: E&I Manager
Job Purpose
To ensure the reliable operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of all
electrical and
instrumentation systems during the assigned shift. The Shift Engineer will
support
continuous plant operations by minimizing downtime, ensuring safety
compliance, and
maintaining high equipment performance standards.
Key Responsibilities
1. Operations & Maintenance
Perform routine inspections of electrical and instrumentation equipment
during
the shift.
Troubleshoot and rectify faults in electrical systems, control circuits,
motors,
MCCs, VFDs, PLCs, SCADA, sensors, and instrumentation devices.
Monitor plant electrical load, power quality, and equipment performance,
ensuring optimal operation.
Ensure timely execution of preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
2. Equipment Management
Maintain and operate switchgear, transformers, generators, MCC panels,
control
panels, and automation systems.
Calibrate, test, and maintain instruments like flow transmitters, pressure
transmitters, temperature sensors, level sensors, control valves, actuators,
etc.
Assist in commissioning of new installations, upgrades, and project-related
E&I
works.
3. Safety & Compliance
Ensure all electrical and instrumentation work follows safety standards,
procedures, and statutory requirements.
Perform LOTO procedures before maintenance tasks.

Participate in safety audits, risk assessments, and toolbox talks.
4. Shift Operations
Provide technical support to production during the shift to ensure
uninterrupted
operations.
Record shift activities, breakdowns, downtime analysis, and maintenance
actions
in the shift logbook.
Coordinate with production, mechanical, utilities, and other departments for
smooth plant running.
5. Packaging Machines Operation & Support
Provide immediate troubleshooting and technical support for packaging
machines
such as:
o Filling & sealing machines
o Wrapping & shrink packaging machines
o Labelling machines
o Carton packing machines
o Conveyor systems
o Weighers, HFFS/VFFS machines
Monitor machine performance and ensure optimal line OEE (Overall Equipment
Effectiveness).
Quickly attend to breakdowns to reduce production stoppages.
6. Electrical & Automation Troubleshooting
Diagnose faults in motors, sensors, solenoids, VFDs, PLCs, HMIs, and control
panels.
Troubleshoot electrical circuits, control logic, and instrumentation loops.
Modify PLC parameters and machine settings when required (within safe
limits).
Maintain and calibrate weighing systems, temperature controllers, barcode
scanners, photoelectric sensors, encoders, and pneumatic actuators.
7. Preventive & Corrective Maintenance
Execute preventive maintenance schedules specifically for high-speed
packaging
machines.

Inspect electrical components, wiring, terminal tightness, control cabinets,
and
machinery safety systems.
Replace worn-out sensors, actuators, belts, heaters, thermocouples, and
pneumatic
components.
Support planned shutdown maintenance and machine overhauls.
5. Documentation & Reporting
Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance records, calibration
certificates,
and breakdown reports.
Report critical breakdowns, recurring issues, and improvement
recommendations
to the E&I Manager.
Support root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications & Experience
Diploma / Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation
Engineering, or related field.
5–10 years experience in plant maintenance in FMCG, manufacturing, chemical,
mining, or similar industries.
Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems, automation systems, PLCs,
sensors, and instrumentation.
Hands-on experience with troubleshooting VFDs, soft starters, motors, MCCs,
and control panels.
Key Skills & Competencies
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
Good knowledge of electrical and instrumentation standards (IEC, IEEE, ISA,
etc.).
Ability to read electrical drawings, instrumentation diagrams, and
P&IDs.
Excellent communication and teamwork.
Ability to work independently during shift hours.
Strong focus on safety and compliance.
Proactive approach toward machine reliability and process improvement.

Work Conditions
Rotational shift-based work.
On-call support during emergencies.
Work includes exposure to industrial environment (noise, heat, machinery).
