Zonal Manager - Government Business

About the Role:

The position entails providing banking solutions to the Government Segment covering Central Government Ministries / Departments, State Government Departments, Central and State Government PSUs/ Corporations, Local Government Bodies, Autonomous Government Bodies, and Institutional Clients with a focus on liabilities and fee income and ensure best in class relationship management and client experience to become their banking partner of choice. The role also requires understanding of Government Agency Business and various opportunities under the same.

The role bearer will be responsible for developing and managing relationships with key State Government Departments for enabling policy-level initiatives favoring the Bank and origination of mandates/ empanelment for business in the states in close coordination with the Zonal Heads – Government & Institutional Business.

The role bearer is responsible for executing the strategy for business in the Government Segment to drive acquisition of NTB Institutional Clients for Wholesale Liabilities (CASA / WTD) and Payments & Cash Management products.

The role will closely collaborate with the product teams and Branches as well as driving the business through the team of Relationship Managers for Government & Institutional Business to drive effective customer acquisition, servicing, and deepening.

Role & Responsibilities

Responsible for executing the business strategy for Government Segment including identifying new opportunities for business in the Zone.
Responsible for developing and managing relationships with key State Government Departments and State PSUs/ Corporations and origination of mandates/ empanelment for business.
Responsible for acquiring NTB (New to Bank) Clients in the Government Segment working closely with the Zonal Heads and the team of Relationship Managers for Government & Institutional Business in the Zone.
Ensure deepening of ETB (Existing to Bank) Book through existing relationships for Government Segment in the Zone.
Knowledge and understanding of Payments & Cash Management, various Electronic Payment Products, Government Agency Business and basic understanding of Trade Finance and Foreign Exchange. Demonstrate ability in understanding of client’s requirements and conceptualizing possible solutions/ propositions.
Develop collaborative relationship with Zonal Heads – Liabilities / Regional Heads / Cluster Heads/ Branches for effective execution of the strategy.
Evaluate growth strategy for the Zone based on competitor analysis and feedback from different channels/ clients.
Develop suitable training programs for creating awareness amongst Branches / RMs for business opportunities, ensure efficient servicing of existing relationships and support them for acquiring NTB Clients in Government Segment.
Monitor key business parameters for the Zone for business in Government Segment and make necessary improvements.

Educational Qualifications

Postgraduate – Preferably MBA/ CA

Relevant experience of 12-18 years with 3-5 years in a similar role.
