Job Summary:
The Trade Finance Officer is responsible for managing the preparaƟon, review,
and processing of
LeƩers of Credit (LCs), Bank Guarantees, and other trade finance instruments.
This role will also
handle the bank finance and treasury operaƟons, ensuring effecƟve and Ɵmely
execuƟon of all
related transacƟons. The incumbent will be responsible for working closely
with internal and external
stakeholders, including banks, clients, and suppliers, to ensure seamless
trade finance acƟviƟes.
Key ResponsibiliƟes:
1. LeƩers of Credit (LCs) & Bank Guarantees Management:
Prepare and Review: DraŌ, review, and process various types of LeƩers of
Credit (LCs) UCP
600, Bank Guarantees(URDG758), and other trade finance documents, ensuring
compliance
with internaƟonal trade regulaƟons and bank policies.
VerificaƟon: Ensure the accuracy and completeness of all documentaƟon
related to LCs,
Bank Guarantees, and other financial instruments.
CoordinaƟon: Work closely with banks, suppliers, and customers to facilitate
the opening,
amendments, and seƩlement of LCs and Bank Guarantees.
Timely ExecuƟon: Ensure all processes related to LCs and guarantees are
carried out in a
Ɵmely manner to avoid delays in shipments, payments, and performance
guarantees.
2. Trade Finance DocumentaƟon:
Documentary CollecƟon: Coordinate the collecƟon and negoƟaƟon of trade
finance
documents under various instruments like sight draŌs, Ɵme draŌs, and bills of
exchange.
Compliance: Ensure that all trade documents are compliant with UCP 600
(Uniform Customs
and PracƟce for Documentary Credits) and ICC guidelines.
ReconciliaƟon: Ensure proper reconciliaƟon of trade finance transacƟons,
handling
discrepancies and disputes with counterparƟes and financial insƟtuƟons.
3. Bank Finance & Treasury OperaƟons:
Fund Management: Assist in managing bank faciliƟes, including trade finance
lines, working
capital loans, and overdraŌ faciliƟes.
Cash Flow Analysis: Monitor and manage treasury operaƟons by ensuring
adequate liquidity
for day-to-day operaƟons and financing requirements.
Risk Management: Assist in managing and miƟgaƟng financial risks related to
trade finance,
currency fluctuaƟons, and payment default.
4. RelaƟonship Management:
Stakeholder InteracƟon: Liaise with internal departments (Sales,
Procurement, Legal,
Finance) and external parƟes (banks, clients, vendors) to ensure smooth trade
finance
operaƟons.
Customer Support: Provide support to customers by addressing any trade
finance-related
queries or issues that may arise during the lifecycle of LCs or Bank
Guarantees.
5. ReporƟng & Compliance:
ReporƟng: Prepare and submit periodic reports on trade finance operaƟons, LC
status, and
bank guarantee uƟlizaƟon to senior management.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to all regulatory requirements,
including AnƟ-
Money Laundering (AML), Know Your Customer (KYC), and InternaƟonal Trade
regulaƟons.
6. Process Improvement:
DocumentaƟon Process: ConƟnuously improve the documentaƟon and processing
workflow
for trade finance instruments, ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.
System ImplementaƟon: Contribute to the implementaƟon of trade finance
management
systems and tools for beƩer monitoring and execuƟon.
Key Skills and QualificaƟons:
EducaƟonal Background: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business AdministraƟon,
or a related
field. CerƟficaƟons in Trade Finance (e.g., CDCS,) are an advantage.
Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of experience in trade finance, banking, or
treasury
operaƟons, with a strong understanding of LeƩers of Credit, Bank Guarantees,
and related
instruments.
Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of trade finance operaƟons, internaƟonal
payment systems,
UCP 600, ICC regulaƟons, and financial documentaƟon.
Technical Skills: Proficient in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint);
familiarity with trade
finance management systems and ERP soŌware is a plus.
AƩenƟon to Detail: Strong analyƟcal and organizaƟonal skills with the
ability to review
complex financial documents accurately.
CommunicaƟon Skills: Excellent wriƩen and verbal communicaƟon skills to
liaise effecƟvely
with internal teams and external parƟes.
Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to resolve
discrepancies or
issues related to trade finance transacƟons.
Time Management: Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a
fast-paced
environment.
