Director of Technology & AI Operations
RMZ Corp
STATUS Active | LOCATION Bengaluru | DEPARTMENT Technology | SENIORITY Director |
The Transformation Mandate
RMZ is building an AI-first institution — one where every decision, strategy, and tactic is shaped by AI. The goal is durable competitive advantage: faster institutional learning, coherent data across a 100M+ sq ft multi-vertical platform, and AI-native workflows that compound over time. This is not an IT modernisation programme. It is a fundamental reorientation of how one of India's largest privately-held alternative asset platforms thinks and operates.
Who This Role Serves
Three constituencies:
– Customers — the 250+ global enterprise tenants who live and work on RMZ campuses, whose experience is shaped by the digital surfaces we build.
– Investors & capital partners — CPPIB, Mitsui Fudosan, and others who require decision-grade intelligence and seamless access to deal and portfolio data.
– Employees — every function across leasing, development, capital markets, hospitality, and operations, who should be able to query and act on RMZ's operational reality through AI.
Execution Tracks
Three delivery tracks sit under this mandate: (1) RMZ Cortex and the data layer — the AI-native platform that unifies passive capture and governed structured records across the firm; (2) the tenant-facing campus app and broader customer- and investor-facing digital surfaces; and (3) board liaison and technology strategy. These are described in full below.
The Builder
You will be hands-on from day one — writing code, reviewing PRs, shipping the first cuts of the platform yourself. The mandate over time is to build a lean team of exceptional engineers, with full hiring autonomy. We believe a small team of 10x engineers will go further than a large conventional IT organisation.
Cortex is RMZ's AI-native data platform — the foundation for intelligence and analytics across the firm. It has two halves: passive capture (meetings, transcripts, contacts, entities, action items) and governed structured records (assets, projects, client mappings, deal state, with maker-checker workflows). You own the unification roadmap — schema, canonical entities, access control, migrations, and the agentic and dashboard surfaces on top — so any employee, AI or human, can query and act through Claude.
The internal tooling ecosystem is built around Claude as the operating system. You will design the MCP servers and agentic workflows that let every function query, analyse, and act in natural language. You keep the codebase and data coherent as the contributor base grows.
You are the technical authority over RMZ's full SaaS and enterprise platform estate, spanning four domains:
– Commercial & Revenue — Salesforce, MarTech, leasing platforms
– Delivery & Operations — SAP, construction tech, AutoCAD integrations
– People & Corporate — HRIS, T&E systems
– Capital & Markets — ECM/DCM platforms, investor data rooms
A PM owns day-to-day management of this estate and reports to you. You set direction, own the integration architecture into Cortex, and make the build-vs-buy calls.
A Product Manager reports directly to you and owns the day-to-day build of:
– Campus app — mobile experience for employees of tenant companies covering parking, access, F&B, guest registration, and campus services
– Community and ownership apps — digital surfaces for residential and office condominium owners
– Investor & capital partner interfaces — data rooms, portfolio reporting, and deal-state visibility for institutional partners
Your role on this track is architecture review, API design, vendor sign-off, and quality bar. You are the technical authority and manager to the product owner.
You are responsible for establishing product discipline at RMZ — clear problem statements, user journeys, prioritisation frameworks, and UI/UX ownership. You will build an in-house PM organisation over time, hiring and developing product managers who can operate at the standard the firm requires.
You own SI accountability — holding system integrators and delivery partners to SLAs, managing escalations, and making build-vs-buy governance calls at the delivery level. You set the standards for how third-party vendors are selected, contracted, and held accountable.
You are the technology point of contact for RMZ's Executive and Supervisory Boards. You translate business priorities — leasing targets, capital allocation, new vertical launches — into a coherent technology strategy, and report back on execution in a language the boards can act on. You will work closely with a Supervisory Board member with a Stanford AI PhD background who will be shipping code, reviewing your work, and challenging you in equal measure.
1. Shipped production software — Has shipped production software and can defend it under live questioning. Real systems used by real people. Can explain and defend every architectural choice — including trade-offs considered and rejected.
2. Governed data system ownership — Deep database fundamentals (schema, migrations, indexing, access control, multi-tenant security) with schema versioning, maker-checker or equivalent approval workflows, audit trails, and contributor-base discipline across technical and non-technical builders.
3. AI-native practice — Has built with LLM integration, MCP servers, and agentic workflows in production. Daily user of AI coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor, or equivalent). Will be verified at screen. Public GitHub profile with clear READMEs and, where possible, live demos is a hard filter.
4. Business-to-product translation — Translates ambiguous business requirements into shipped product, without founder authority, with non-technical stakeholders (finance, leasing, operations, executives) in environments where they didn't set the agenda. Can hold their own in front of an executive or supervisory board — in conversation and in a one-page memo.
5. People management — Has managed direct reports. Given feedback on product decisions, prioritisation, and quality — not just code. Two PMs report in from day one.
6. Clean on outside commitments — No competing ventures. Prior ones wound down, sold, or with documented separation before joining. Full-time role.
7. Mobile app architecture — React Native, Flutter, or equivalent. Deep enough to review architecture decisions, hold a vendor or PM accountable, and set the quality bar. Bonus if it includes campus-app-style third-party integrations (access control, F&B, parking, visitor management).
8. Data warehouses / lakehouses in production — BigQuery, Redshift, ClickHouse, or equivalent. Knows when a transactional DB isn't enough.
9. Domain exposure — Real estate, construction, infrastructure, or campus/workplace tech.
10. SaaS-replacement experience — Has owned a SaaS-replacement project — moved off Salesforce, an Airtable estate, or similar — and can describe the migration discipline that made it work.
Player-coach. Capable as an IC on day one — writing code, shipping the platform, reviewing PRs — and capable of building and leading a lean team of exceptional engineers over time. We're looking for someone with both 0→1 and 1→N experience: built something real from zero with real customers, and stayed long enough to scale it past the founding stage. That can look like founding a company and growing it through 30+ people, or being a founding engineer who then spent two-plus years at a recognizable larger organisation. We care less about title or total years than the texture of those experiences — and whether the person holds their own equally well in a boardroom and in code review.
