Job Description – Mines Planning & Operations Engineer
Position: Mines Planning & Operations Engineer
Location: Integrated Cement Plant – Captive Limestone Mines
Reporting to: HOD – Mining

Qualification & Experience
 Bachelor’s Degree in Mining Engineering from a reputed university.
 Valid First-Class Competency Certificate from the Indian Bureau of Mines.
 7–10 years of hands-on experience in:
o Greenfield exploration, geological modelling, reserve estimation.
o Short-/medium-/long-term quarry planning.
o Open-pit limestone mining operations.
 Experience in the African continent will be considered an advantage.

Essential Skills
 Strong leadership, communication, and team-motivation capabilities.
 Proven expertise in mine design, infrastructure planning, and project management.
 Competence in:
o Geological evaluation (exploration, evaluation & production geology)
o Limestone reserve assessment and block modelling
o Short-term, medium-term & long-term quarry planning
o Waste dump design, sequencing, and rehabilitation planning
 Thorough understanding of statutory & regulatory requirements related to:
o Mining Commission
o Ministry of Energy & Minerals
o Environmental Monitoring Authority
o Mines Safety Rules, Environmental compliance & reporting
 Knowledge of:
o Survey instruments, GPS/RTK, and volume computation

o Geotechnical analysis, slope stability and bench design
o Earthmoving equipment operations & maintenance
o Crusher operations and stockpile quality management
 Competence in:
o Internal & external mining audits
o Data reporting and MIS analysis (Daily/Weekly/Monthly/Quarterly/Yearly)
 Ability to implement a Mines Safety Management Plan ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient
operations.
 Strong capability to optimize resources and reduce mining cost per tonne.

Key Responsibilities
Mineral Exploration & Reserve Assessment
 Ensure accurate estimation of limestone reserves in terms of quantity and quality.
 Conduct geological interpretation, exploration planning, and reserve updation.
 Recommend tentative Raw Mix Design based on exploration chemistry and quality data.
Mine Planning & Development
 Prepare and update:
o Long-term mine plans
o Medium-term development plans
o Short-term daily/weekly production plans
 Ensure alignment of mine plans with cement plant limestone quality & quantity requirements.
 Coordinate equipment allocation, contractor planning, and resource mobilization.
 Ensure compliance with mining lease conditions and oversee periodic lease-renewal processes.
Mining Operations Execution
 Monitor daily mining operations to meet daily, monthly, and annual production targets.
 Conduct daily/weekly coordination meetings with mining contractors.
 Manage drilling, blasting, excavation, hauling, dozing, and crushing interface operations.
 Oversee crusher feeding, stockpile management, and quality control at source.
Safety, Environment & Statutory Compliance

 Ensure full compliance with:
o Mines safety regulations
o Environmental monitoring norms
o Statutory reporting requirements
 Submit all required monthly, quarterly & annual returns to the Mining Commission.
 Maintain strict adherence to mine closure plan, rehabilitation plan, and statutory standards.
Dump Management & Monsoon Preparedness
 Monitor waste dump development and stability as per approved dump design.
 Implement corrective actions based on safety inspections and statutory requirements.
 Plan and execute pre-monsoon preparation, drainage, roads, berms, and bunds.
Surveying, Monitoring & Reporting
 Oversee survey operations, volume computation, bench advancements, and face positions.
 Maintain updated mine maps, layouts, and land record documentation.
 Prepare structured MIS reports: daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly.
Stakeholder & Community Management
 Maintain strong relationship with neighbouring village communities and local leaders.
 Support land acquisition, compensation processes, and maintain land records in coordination
with management.
Team Development
 Provide regular training to mining staff on planning, operations, safety & compliance.
 Develop junior engineers, supervisors, and contractor teams to enhance operational efficiency.
