Job purpose

The Profit Centre Head – Raw Cashew Nut (RCN) will be responsible for leading, managing, and growing the RCN business vertical. This role involves end-to-end ownership of sourcing, procurement, trading, processing coordination, margin management, P&L delivery, and strategic business development. The role requires strong market understanding, supplier relationship management, operational oversight, and financial acumen.

Duties and responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

1. Business Strategy & P&L Ownership
   • Lead the RCN business unit with full accountability for revenue, margins, working capital, and profitability.
   • Develop and execute annual business plans, forecasts, and budgets.
   • Drive cost optimization and ensure efficient utilisation of resources.
   • Monitor market trends, price movements, and global supply-demand dynamics to optimise positions.
2. Sourcing & Procurement
   • Lead sourcing of RCN from key origins (e.g., West Africa, East Africa, India, Indonesia).
   • Build and maintain strong supplier networks, agents, and partnerships.
   • Ensure procurement aligns with quality standards, price competitiveness, and processing requirements.
   • Negotiate contracts and manage procurement risks effectively.
3. Trading & Market Management
   • Oversee physical trading activities and manage procurement-to-sales cycles.
   • Monitor exposure, positions, hedges, pricing strategies, and arbitrage opportunities.
   • Work closely with trading teams to manage inventory, logistics, and contract execution.
4. Operations & Processing Coordination
   • Coordinate with factory teams for supply planning, processing volumes, quality standards, and output optimisation.
   • Ensure timely delivery of RCN to processing units and manage stock flow.
   • Identify bottlenecks and drive process improvements.
5. Logistics & Supply Chain
   • Oversee end-to-end logistics from origin to destination markets.
   • Collaborate with shipping, warehousing, documentation, and clearing teams.
   • Ensure compliance with regional regulations and trade norms.
6. Relationship & Stakeholder Management
   • Build strong relationships with suppliers, service providers, customers, and other partners.
   • Coordinate with finance, risk, legal, and HR to ensure smooth functioning of the business unit.
   • Represent the RCN business in leadership reviews and external forums.
7. Team Leadership
   • Lead and mentor sourcing, procurement, trading, and operations teams.
   • Drive a culture of performance, ownership, integrity, and continuous improvement.
   • Build capabilities through training and development initiatives.

Qualifications

Qualifications include:

• Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Agriculture, Business Management, Supply Chain, or related fields.
• 10 – 15+ years of experience in cashew or agri-commodities trading, procurement, or processing.
• Proven track record in managing P&L and leading cross-functional teams.
• Strong exposure to African and Asian procurement markets is preferred.
