Projects - Civil Design & Engineering

We have an opportunity in our  Projects  division for  Civil Design & Engineering  role of EHV Substation based at our Airoli Office, detailed JD attached for your ready reference.

Brief about the Projects business  –

The Projects Division undertakes Design, Engineering Supply, Installation, Testing and Commissioning of Turnkey Projects for the following:

Outdoor EHV & HV Switchyards up to and including 220 kV

Indoor Sub-stations, Overhead and Under Ground Distribution Systems

Industrial Electrification for lighting and power distribution

Job Overview: We are seeking an experienced Civil Design & Engineering professional with strong expertise in substation infrastructure and industrial construction. The role involves design, review, coordination, and execution support for civil works in power projects, ensuring compliance with standards and project timelines

Qualification:  Diploma / Degree in Civil engineering

Experience:  5–10 years of relevant experience in civil design and construction, specifically in substation and power sector projects .

Key Responsibilities:

Design & Engineering

·   Review Soil Bearing Capacity (SBC) reports and provide design inputs.

·   Perform design calculations for:

o   Civil buildings (Control Room / Relay Room)

o   Transformer and switchyard equipment foundations

o   Internal roads, rail-cum-roads, pavements

o   Cable trenches, ducts, and drainage systems

o   Compound walls, fencing, and gates

o   Earthwork, PCC, RCC, masonry, and finishing works

o   Fire protection pits, oil soak pits

·   Prepare and review engineering drawings for all civil components.

·   Develop detailed 2D and 3D designs  for substation and building projects.

·   Ensure all designs comply with relevant IS codes and standards .

·   Optimize civil designs for cost efficiency.

Coordination & Stakeholder Management

·   Coordinate with internal consultants for drawing discussions and approvals.

·   Liaise with clients and external consultants for design approvals.

·   Work closely with electrical engineering teams to ensure seamless integration of civil and electrical works.

·   Interact with site teams to resolve drawing-related issues and provide clarifications.

Site Involvement

·   Conduct site visits as required for design validation and issue resolution.

·   Participate in pre-bid site visits to assess project requirements and constraints.

·   Provide feedback to the marketing team based on site evaluations.

Planning, Estimation & Execution Support

·   Prepare quantity take-offs and cost estimates during pre-bid stages.

·   Support contractor negotiations for civil works pricing.

·   Assist in preparation of Material Delivery Lists (MDL) .

·   Support Project Manager in project scheduling and planning.

Quality & Review

·   Review and validate designs prepared by team members and consultants.

·   Ensure all potential issues are resolved prior to construction.

·   Analyze maps, surveys, and drawings for effective infrastructure planning.

Required Skills & Competencies:

·   Strong knowledge of substation and power sector civil works.

·   Proficiency in:

o   AutoCAD

o   STAAD

o   MS Excel

·   Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.

·   Ability to work under tight deadlines with excellent time management skills.

·   Good communication and coordination skills.
