Role: Electrical Tendering & Estimation

(Electrical Substation Projects – India)

Job Purpose

To handle electrical tendering, estimation, and cost engineering  for HV/EHV electrical substation projects , ensuring accurate pricing, competitive bids, and compliance with technical and contractual requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Tendering & Estimation

·   Study and analyze tender documents, technical specifications, drawings, BOQs, and scope of work  for electrical substations.

·   Prepare detailed cost estimates  for electrical works including primary, secondary, and auxiliary systems .

·   Carry out quantity take-off  from SLDs, GA drawings, layout drawings, and schematics.

·   Prepare BOQs, cost break-ups, rate analysis, and price schedules .

·   Assist in bid strategy, pricing, and finalization .

·   Prepare and respond to technical and commercial clarifications  during bidding.

2. Costing & Vendor Coordination

·   Float enquiries and evaluate vendor/supplier quotations  for equipment and materials.

·   Prepare cost comparison statements (CCS)  and recommend cost-effective solutions.

·   Coordinate with OEMs for transformers, switchgear, protection panels, control & relay panels , etc.

·   Maintain cost databases, standard rates, and vendor records .

3. Coordination & Documentation

·   Coordinate with civil, protection, SCADA, planning, and procurement teams .

·   Ensure compliance with IS/IEC standards, utility specifications, and project requirements .

·   Support post-bid negotiations and contract finalization .

·   Assist project teams during handover from tendering to execution .

Scope of Electrical Works (Substation)

·   HV/EHV equipment: Power transformers, circuit breakers, isolators, CTs, PTs, lightning arresters

·   Switchyard works including bus bars, gantries, insulators

·   Control & Relay Panels (CRP), protection schemes

·   AC/DC systems, battery & battery chargers

·   Earthing & lightning protection systems

·   Control, power & FO cabling

·   SCADA, communication, and automation systems

·   Testing & commissioning activities

Qualifications

·   B.E./B.Tech or Diploma in Electrical Engineering

Experience

·   3–15 years  of experience in electrical tendering & estimation

·   Mandatory experience in HV/EHV electrical substation or power transmission projects

Key Skills & Competencies

·   Strong knowledge of substation equipment, layouts, and protection systems

·   Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Excel , and estimation tools

·   Understanding of utility, EPC, and turnkey project tendering

·   Good commercial awareness and negotiation skills

·   Ability to work under tight tender deadlines
