Hiring: Maintenance Manager (Hands-on)

Location: Tema, Ghana

About the Role

We are looking for a highly skilled, hands-on Maintenance Manager with a strong core mechanical engineering background , capable of independently handling plant maintenance, fabrication, and projects. The ideal candidate must be a practical troubleshooter and team leader , not just a supervisor.

Key Responsibilities

Hands-on maintenance & troubleshooting of:
- Injection molding (Husky preform systems – hydraulics focus)
- Beverage filling & packaging lines
- PE recycling lines (washing, grinding, extrusion, pelletizing)
Lead tool room & machine shop operations :
- Lathe, milling, surface grinding, drilling
- Precision machining, shaft/bush work, repairs
Execute and supervise:
- SS piping fabrication & installation (process & utility lines)
- Welding (TIG, ARC, gas) and structural fabrication
- Plant modifications, retrofitting, and expansion projects
Perform heavy mechanical jobs:
- Replacement of gears, gearboxes, motors, couplings
- Alignment, overhauls, and equipment installation
Maintain utilities:
- Pumps, motors, compressors, chillers, cooling systems
- Boilers & steam systems (preferred)
Lead new machinery installation and project execution :
- Piping, cable routing, equipment shifting, layout changes

Team Leadership

Manage and control:
- 20+ local maintenance team members
- 4 expatriate specialists (Turner, Fitter, Plumber, Fabricator/Foreman)
Ensure discipline, productivity, and strong coordination between teams
Train and develop team in troubleshooting, machining, and fabrication

Communication & Reporting

Strong English communication (spoken & written)
Professional in:
- Email communication with management and suppliers
- Maintenance reporting (daily/weekly/monthly)
Ability to clearly present problems, solutions, and project updates

Candidate Profile

Diploma / Degree in Mechanical Engineering
10+ years of hands-on experience in plastics / recycling / beverages / FMCG
Strong expertise in:
- Tool room & machining
- SS piping and welding (must-have)
- Hydraulics & rotating equipment
Proven experience in plant maintenance + project execution
A true hands-on engineer who can work on machines directly
