QA Tester (Automation Tester) – Athena Master Reference DataPlatform
Role Purpose
As a QA Tester, you will ensure the integrity, accuracy, and reliability of the Athena Master Reference Data Platform, with a primary focus on designing and implementing automated testing plans. You will be responsible for designing and executing rigorous testing strategies for data pipelines, integration points, and platform functionality to ensure that master data remains a "single source of truth" for the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
•
Design, document, and execute comprehensive automated testing planscovering unit, integration, and end-to-end regression testing.
•
Develop and maintain automated test scripts specifically for data validation,ensuring ETL processes and data transformations meet business logicrequirements.
•
Integrate automated test suites into the CI/CD pipeline to provide immediatefeedback on platform stability and data quality.
•
Collaborate with developers to define "Definition of Done" criteria and ensureautomated test coverage for all new platform features and bug fixes.
•
Develop and execute comprehensive test plans and test cases for masterdata workflows and ETL processes.
•
Perform deep-dive data validation using SQL to ensure data consistency,quality, and transformation accuracy across environments.
•
Collaborate with Data Engineers and Architects to identify, document, andtrack defects within the Athena ecosystem.
•
Build and maintain automated regression test suites to support continuousintegration and delivery (CI/CD) cycles.
•
Validate API endpoints and downstream data consumption points to ensureseamless integration with peripheral systems.
•
Ensure data consistency, accuracy, and completeness across upstream anddownstream systems
•
Perform schema, payload, and contract validation between producer andconsumer systems
•
Design and execute test scenarios covering positive, negative, and edgecases
Requirements
•
3-5 years’ experience
•
5-10 years’ experience in developing automated testing frameworks for data-centric platforms (using Python, PyTest or Great Expectations)
•
Strong proficiency in SQL for complex data analysis, validation, and backendtesting.
•
Proven experience in testing Master Data Management (MDM) and ReferenceData platforms or large-scale data warehouse environments.
•
Proven track record of implementing automated testing plans with AzureDevOps, GitHub Actions, or similar CI/CD environments
•
Hands-on experience with automated testing frameworks (e.g., PyTest,Selenium, or Robot Framework) and Azure DevOps/Jira for defectmanagement.
•
Familiarity with Kafka / streaming data validation
•
Exposure to OpenSearch / Elasticsearch for data validation and querying
•
Experience with MDM platforms (Reltio preferred)
