Senior Engineer Transportation

Job Summary:

The Senior Transportation Planner is a core member of the Transport Planning & Traffic Engineering 
team in the design center. He develops traffic demand analyses and forecasts, transportation master 
plan studies, traffic impact studies, road safety assessments, etc. for projects of moderate 
complexity. He works closely with senior project team members for the review and validation of 
deliverables to ensure the proper implementation of all client requirements. The jobholder shall stay 
abreast of the latest trends and developments in the transport planning and traffic engineering field 
and share his knowledge with his team members, as applicable. 

Essential Functions: 
 Conduct data collection for transportation planning and traffic engineering projects in 
coordination with project teams (e.g. traffic counts, etc.) for projects of moderate complexity 
 Closely work with Traffic Modelers for the development of traffic models, network simulations 
for transport planning and traffic engineering projects of moderate complexity 
 Closely work with Traffic Modelers for the calculation of trip generation and origin-destination 
matrices, and calculating and analyzing traffic volumes for projects of moderate complexity 
 Prepare drawings, including circulation and parking plans, signage etc. for projects of 
moderate complexity 
 Prepare transportation and traffic impact studies reports for projects of moderate complexity 
 Validate and review transport and traffic impact studies with clients and authorities for 
projects of moderate complexity 
 Perform peer review on other teams’ design deliverables and review and comment on 
deliverables prepared by junior team members 

Experience: 
 8+ years of industry experience in the transportation planning and traffic engineering 
Qualifications: 
 Masters in Transport Planning, Traffic Engineering / Management or related topics are 
preferred 

Skills: 
 Knowledge and proven track record of transport planning and traffic engineering 
 Understanding of international engineering standards and codes 
 Proficiency in transport / land use planning, traffic modeling, ITS and other information 
systems 
 Familiarity with traffic modeling software, such as VISUM, VISSIM, Synchro, MXROAD, 
SIDRA, HCS, AutoTURN, CUBE etc. 
 Strong operational modeling skills 
 Strong quantitative and analytical skills 
 Strong communication skills 
 Proficiency in spoken and written English; Arabic is an advantage
