Job Purpose

The Head of Logistics (EXIM) is responsible for overseeing the end-to-end logistics and transportation activities critical to the execution of projects. This includes securing the most competitive rates for logistics, ensuring timely delivery of materials to project sites, and maintaining strict compliance with the regulations set by the Government of India, Customs, and DGFT, as well as international guidelines. The role is pivotal in aligning logistics strategies with project budgets and timelines, contributing directly to the organization’s operational excellence and global standards.

Roles & Responsibilities

Key Responsibility Areas

Logistics Rate Negotiation: Secure competitive rates for ocean and air transportation in line with vendor nominations, both domestic and international.
Project Bidding: Participate in project bidding processes, providing logistics cost estimations to ensure competitive and accurate proposals.
Project Execution: Manage the logistics aspects of project execution, ensuring timely and cost-effective transportation of materials to project sites.
Transportation Rate Finalization: Finalize transportation rates for ocean and air logistics, ensuring alignment with project budgets and vendor requirements.
Material Delivery: Oversee the delivery of materials to the final project site within budget constraints and project timelines.
Compliance Management: Ensure adherence to the guidelines and regulations of the Government of India, Customs, DGFT, and international standards.
Regulatory Expertise: Play a critical role in navigating regulatory frameworks in India and overseas, mitigating risks and ensuring smooth operations.
Stakeholder Coordination: Collaborate with vendors, government bodies, and internal teams to ensure seamless logistics operations.
Risk Management: Identify and address potential risks in the logistics chain, developing contingency plans to minimize disruptions.
Cost Adherence: Follow rules and regulations of the government, maintain cost as per the tender agreement, ensuring no additional costs or overheads.
Timely Delivery of Goods: Ensure the timely delivery of goods in accordance with project schedules and timelines.

Secure competitive rates, achieving 10% cost reduction through effective negotiations while ensuring 100% budget compliance.
Provide accurate cost estimations, submitting 100% accurate proposals within bid deadlines and maintaining 100% adherence to regulatory requirements.
Ensure timely, cost-effective material delivery, meeting 95% of project timelines.
Align transportation rates with project budgets, finalizing 100% within approved budgets and ensuring seamless coordination with stakeholders.
Identify and mitigate risks, implement 100% contingency plans, while maintaining 100% compliance to government regulations and standards.
Oversee efficient material delivery, ensuring 100% on-time delivery within project timelines and maintaining cost adherence as per tender agreements.

Job Qualifications and Requirements

Minimum of 10 years of extensive experience in logistics, transportation, and supply chain management, preferably within industries such as manufacturing, construction, or infrastructure.
Strong knowledge of ocean and air transportation, including rate negotiation, compliance with government regulations (e.g., Customs, DGFT, and international standards), and experience with project bidding and execution.
In-depth understanding of regulatory frameworks in India and overseas, ensuring compliance with government guidelines and standards.
Proven ability to collaborate effectively with vendors, internal teams, and government bodies to ensure seamless logistics operations and successful project delivery.
Demonstrated expertise in identifying risks within the logistics chain, developing contingency plans, and mitigating potential disruptions.
Strong financial acumen with the ability to maintain project budgets as per tender agreements, ensuring no additional costs or overheads.
Experience in managing end-to-end logistics for large-scale projects, ensuring timely and cost-effective transportation of materials.
Familiarity with logistics management systems, and a proven ability to leverage technology to enhance efficiency in operations.

Education and Certifications

B.E. (mechanical/electrical/civil)
Post Graduation (Optional)
MBA in SCM (preferred)
Courses in Certified data center professional (CDCP) preferred.

Technical Skills

Proficient in using AutoCAD for designing and drafting logistics-related diagrams, layouts, and project blueprints.
Strong expertise in using advanced Excel functions, formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis to manage complex data and reports.
Hands-on experience in SAP modules related to logistics, procurement, and supply chain management, ensuring seamless operations and data integration.
Proficient in creating interactive dashboards and reports using Power BI to analyze key logistics metrics, visualize data, and make data-driven decisions.
Ability to work with large datasets, generate insights, and create actionable reports for better decision-making.
