2. Job Purpose
The Internal Controller controls governance and risk and plays a critical role
in safeguarding the Company’s financial integrity, strengthening governance
and ensuring disciplined financial operations at the subsidiary.
This role guards internal controls and acts as the General Manager’s right
hand on Internal Controls, with a strong mandate to identify risks, prevent
fraud, and ensure ethical and compliant financial operations. The role holder
is also expected to escalate key issues or risks to the Management and
shareholders as required.
3.1 Key responsibilities
3.1.1 Internal Control and Analysis - sales

Own and assess the effectiveness of internal controls, risk management, and
governance frameworks, with a primary focus on Sales & Collections and
Purchases & Payments.

Conduct regular post-audits of sales, purchase, receipt, and payment
transactions, including review of customer and vendor balances, debit and
credit notes, operational procedures, and internal policies to identify
weaknesses in the system/operating model, errors, fraud risks, or
non-compliance.

Perform ongoing control testing to evaluate the design and operating
effectiveness of financial and operational controls, ensuring risks are
appropriately mitigated.
3.1.2 Finance check and control

Ensure accuracy and integrity of transaction-level financial data, supported
by proper documentation, reconciliations, and adherence to approval matrices
and segregation of duties.
3.1.3 Reporting and action planning
-
Document findings, observations, and actionable recommendations in clear
monthly control and risk reports for management review.

Partner with management to develop, implement, and monitor corrective action
plans to address identified control gaps and governance issues.

Track and follow up on remediation actions to ensure issues are fully
resolved and sustainably closed.
3.1.4 Governance and auditing

Act as a control and governance advisor to finance and operational teams,
providing guidance on internal controls, ethical conduct, and compliance
with policies and SOPs.

Support and coordinate with external auditors, serving as the key contact
for control and transaction-level matters, and ensuring timely closure of
audit findings.

4. Job Specification
4.1 Educational Qualifications
-
Essential:
CA (Intermediate or Qualified)
-
Desirable:
CIA, ACCA, CPA, or equivalent certifications strongly preferred.
4.2 Work Experience Requirements (work experience)
-
5–8+ years in finance, internal audit, external audit, or controllership
roles.
-
Strong experience in manufacturing, trading, or multi-entity environments.
-
Hands-on exposure to high-volume transactional operations.
-
Experience in emerging or complex markets (e.g., West Africa) is a strong
advantage.
