Job Overview
The Financial Controller is a senior leadership role in the CFO's Office,
responsible for the integrity, timeliness and quality of financial reporting
across Neo Group entities — Wealth Management, AMC, NBFC, Stock Broking,
Insurance Broking, Merchant Banking, Custody and Treasury / Proprietary
Trading. The FC will lead the entity controllership function and own the
Group's month-end close and consolidation discipline. This is a
high-ownership, build-oriented role suited to a Chartered Accountant who has
led finance/controllership teams in a bank or a diversified, multi-entity
financial services group, is comfortable operating with the rigor expected
of a listed-company environment and is hands-on in designing and automating
processes rather than merely overseeing them.
Job Responsibilities
1. Group Books, Consolidation & Month-End Close
-
Own the Group's month-end and quarter-end close calendar — driving all
entity owners to close books within defined timelines, with a
zero-surprise posture on material balances.
-
Set up and continuously strengthen the process for regular, timely monthly
books closure across entities — standardising checklists, cut-off
procedures, and close trackers.
-
Own Group consolidation — intercompany eliminations, minority interest,
related-party schedules — and ensure entity numbers roll up accurately and
on time into Group MIS.
-
Present consolidated Group financial dashboards and close-status updates.
2. Financial Statements, IND AS & Statutory Audit
-
Own the technical accuracy of standalone and consolidated Ind AS financial
statements (Balance Sheet, P&L, Cash Flow, Notes to Accounts) across
all Group entities.
-
Maintain strong domain knowledge of Ind AS — including Ind AS 109 / 113 /
107 / 32 (financial instruments), Ind AS 115 (revenue), Ind AS 116
(leases), Ind AS 12 (taxes) and Ind AS 110 / 28 (consolidation) and ensure
correct, consistent application across entities.
-
Independently manage the Big 4 statutory audit relationship for the Group
— drive the audit calendar, resolve complex technical and judgemental
issues with Big 4 partners, and own audit closure.
-
Act as the escalation point for entity owners on audit and technical
accounting matters that cannot be resolved at the entity level.
3. Internal Financial Controls and Process Rigour
-
Bring hands-on experience of a listed-company-grade control environment —
board and audit committee reporting cadence, disclosure discipline, and
the rigour of a public-company close — and apply that rigour to strengthen
the Group's own control environment.
-
Design, document and operate the Group-wide Internal Financial Controls
(IFC) framework — risk- and-control matrices, transaction-level controls
and IT-dependent controls within Oracle Fusion — across entities.
-
Own resolution of statutory and internal audit observations across
entities within committed timelines; escalate systemic control gaps.
-
Support the Group's Internal Auditor and any future Audit Committee
requirements with schedules, responses and remediation tracking.
4. Cross-Functional & Stakeholder Management
-
Independently engage with cross-functional heads — Business, Risk,
Compliance, Legal, Treasury, Technology — to resolve accounting, control
and process issues.
-
Drive entity-level governance and management forums; act as a trusted
counterpart to business heads on financial matters.
-
Liaise with the Tax Head, FP&A Head and AP Head to ensure closing, tax
and payment processes are well-integrated across the close cycle.
5. Process Improvement & Automation
-
Bring a strong bent towards automation — hands-on in identifying manual,
repetitive tasks in the close and reporting cycle and redesigning them
with Excel automation, Power Automate, or AI-based tools.
-
Document and version-control SOPs for all key controllership processes
across entities, ensuring processes are audit-ready and succession-proof.
Preferred Skills
-
Chartered Accountant with 15 years of post-qualification experience.
-
Experience in the Banking industry or a diversified financial services
group, with direct exposure to Wealth Management, Asset Management,
Proprietary Trading / Treasury and NBFC businesses.
-
Prior exposure to a listed-company environment / set-up, and a
demonstrated hands-on track record of setting up finance processes with a
clear bent towards automation — not just operating existing ones.
-
Strong domain knowledge of Ind AS, with the ability to independently
resolve complex technical accounting issues.
-
Demonstrated experience dealing with Big 4 auditors — driving audit
closure and independently handling complex issues directly with Big 4
partners.
-
Track record of independently engaging and managing cross-functional heads
(Business, Risk, Compliance, Legal, Technology) without needing
escalation.
-
Hands-on experience setting up and running a disciplined, timely monthly
books closure process across multiple entities.
-
Exposure to Oracle Fusion or a comparable ERP (SAP) in a multi-entity
environment.
-
Working knowledge of Group consolidation, related-party accounting and
minority interest treatment.
-
Familiarity with RBI (NBFC), SEBI (AIF / MF / Broking) and IRDAI
regulations, as applicable to a diversified financial services group.
Behavioral Attributes
-
Owns outcomes end-to-end — treats the Group's books and controls as their
own and does not wait to be directed.
-
Builds for scale — process-first mindset, documents before doing, and
designs with automation in mind.
-
Leads from the front — comfortable being hands-on with detail while
managing and developing a team.
-
Straight communicator — surfaces issues early, escalates the right things
to the Group CFO, and is comfortable saying no when something is
non-compliant.
