Missions
1. Oracle Database Architecture & Application Design
-
Design and maintain
PL/SQL packages, schema structures, indexing strategies
, and data models aligned with application requirements.
-
Work with application architects to translate functional flows into
efficient DB structures.
-
Recommend and enforce best practices around
data modeling, partitioning, materialized views
, and storage design.
2. Performance Tuning & Optimization
-
Conduct deep‑dive analysis of
SQL queries, execution plans, AWR/ASH reports
, and Oracle Performance Hub.
-
Optimize complex PL/SQL code, triggers, functions, and stored procedures.
-
Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks at the application–DB
interface.
3. Application–DB Integration
-
Work with full‑stack teams to validate and optimize ORM mappings,
JDBC/ODP.NET usage, and application query patterns.
-
Ensure adherence to Oracle DB best practices in application code.
-
Provide guidance on transaction management, concurrency control, and
cursor handling.
4. Oracle Database Operations & Reliability
-
Manage schema changes, DB deployments, versioning, and rollbacks using
tools such as
Liquibase/Flyway
(if applicable).
-
Monitor database health using Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM), AWR, ASH,
ADDM.
-
Ensure strong backup, recovery, high availability (RAC/Data Guard), and DR
strategies.
5. Security, Compliance & Data Governance
-
Implement and manage Oracle security features:
roles, privileges, auditing, TDE, data masking, VPD/FGA
.
-
Ensure compliance with internal and external regulatory frameworks (e.g.,
GDPR, PCI‑DSS).
-
Maintain data quality and validation standards for the application domain.
6. Troubleshooting & Root Cause Analysis
-
Lead resolution of Oracle‑related incidents, including performance
degradations, deadlocks, and data inconsistencies.
-
Perform RCA for outages and propose preventive measures.
-
Work with SRE/DevOps teams to automate Oracle health checks and alerting.
7. Technical Leadership & Collaboration
-
Serve as the point of contact for all Oracle DB matters for the specific
application.
-
Coach developers on SQL and PL/SQL best practices.
-
Collaborate in solution design discussions for new features requiring
database involvement.
-
