Accountabilities

Availability, performance, and scalability of systems and services through
proactive monitoring, maintenance, and capacity planning.

Resolution, analysis and response to system outages and disruptions, and
implement measures to prevent similar incidents from recurring.

Development of tools and scripts to automate operational processes,
reducing manual workload, increasing efficiency, and improving system
resilience.

Monitoring and optimisation of system performance and resource usage,
identify and address bottlenecks, and implement best practices for
performance tuning.

Collaboration with development teams to integrate best practices for
reliability, scalability, and performance into the software development
lifecycle, and work closely with other teams to ensure smooth and
efficient operations.

Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations, and actively
contribute to the organization's technology communities to foster a
culture of technical excellence and growth.

To be a successful Senior PostgreSQL SRE you should have experience with:

Proven experience as a Principal Level Database Administrator, with a
focus on PostgreSQL and similar database technologies such as Oracle or
MS-SQL.

Proven track record of implementing and leading SRE practices across
large organizations or complex teams.
-
More than ten years of professional experience and expert-level
knowledge of telemetry, monitoring, and platform observability tooling
(e.g., ESAAS, Grafana, Prometheus,) with experience in customizing and
scaling these solutions.

Leadership role in implementing modern DevOps and SRE practices in
enterprise environments.
-
Proven expertise in SQL query optimization and database performance
tuning at scale.
-
Experience with DevOps automation tools such as Code versioning (git),
JIRA, Ansible, Containers and Kubernetes (OpenShift), database CI/CD
tools and their implementation.

Experience in implementing PostgreSQL Container patterns on Kubernetes
with the help of a PostgreSQL operator or a Helm charts.

Recognized as a PostgreSQL subject matter expert, serving as the highest
level of technical escalation for complex database issues.

Proven experience in designing and executing database migration strategies
at enterprise-scale.

Exceptional collaboration skills with executives and cross-functional
teams.

Extensive experience working with large, distributed, high-performance,
high-availability databases with 24/7 uptime

AWS Certified Database – Specialty certification is a plus.
