Product Manager @ August AI
Job Type
Full Time • Bangalore, India
Company Overview
August is building autonomous clinical AI for the world. The product today
shows up as a 24/7 health companion: people use August to understand symptoms,
lab reports, prescriptions, medications, and the confusing space between
doctor visits. But the company we are building is bigger than a companion. We
are building the clinical reasoning, memory, safety, and workflow
infrastructure for AI systems that can take on increasingly complex clinical
work, accurately, empathetically, and with the right guardrails.
Clinical AI will only work if people can trust it, understand it, and act on
it. The product needs to make complex reasoning feel simple. It needs to
handle uncertainty honestly. It needs to know when to reassure, when to ask
better questions, when to escalate, and when to get out of the way.
This is not a feature-factory PM role. You will shape how millions of people
experience autonomous clinical AI: how they describe symptoms, upload reports,
understand risks, review next steps, receive follow-ups, and build trust in an
AI system that is moving toward doing more real clinical work.
We are looking for a product manager who can work from first principles, move
fast, think deeply about users and systems, and build AI-native healthcare
experiences that are safe, clear, useful, and trusted.
What you’ll build
-
Patient-facing clinical AI experiences
-
Own the product experience for symptoms, lab reports, prescriptions,
health history, follow-ups, triage, care navigation, and longitudinal
health memory.
-
AI-native interaction patterns
-
Define new patterns for how users interact with clinical AI:
conversational flows, structured cards, explainability, uncertainty
states, escalation prompts, tool use, follow-up loops, and memory
surfaces.
-
Clinical reasoning experiences
-
Shape how August communicates possible causes, risk levels, next steps,
evidence, safety warnings, and when to seek care — without overwhelming
or misleading users.
-
Human review and clinical oversight tools
-
Build workflows for doctors, reviewers, and internal teams to inspect
cases, review escalations, give feedback, audit AI behavior, and improve
the system.
-
Trust, safety, and privacy experiences
-
Own product moments that make users feel safe: consent, privacy, data
controls, escalation, limitations, emergency handling, and clear
communication of what August can and cannot do.
-
Product systems and quality
-
Help define and evolve product systems across mobile, web,
WhatsApp-adjacent experiences, internal tools, and future clinical
workflows.
Responsibilities
-
Own product areas end to end: from ambiguous problem statements to research,
product strategy, requirements, execution, launch, and iteration.
-
Develop a deep understanding of patient needs, clinical workflows, doctor
constraints, and the emotional reality of people seeking health guidance.
-
Partner closely with founders, design, engineering, AI, and clinical teams
to define both product strategy and interaction details.
-
Lead 0→1 product development for AI-enabled care, including symptom intake,
report interpretation, care navigation, clinical follow-up, and escalation.
-
Turn complex clinical workflows into simple, intuitive, and trustworthy user
experiences.
-
Define user journeys, information architecture, product requirements,
success metrics, launch plans, and iteration loops.
-
Develop AI interaction patterns for memory, uncertainty, reasoning,
explainability, handoff, and human oversight.
-
Use data, user research, clinical feedback, and product intuition to
validate and improve product decisions.
-
Raise the bar for product quality, usability, accessibility, and trust
across the product.
-
Work closely with engineers and designers to ensure high-quality
implementation and fast iteration.
-
Help establish August’s product culture, operating cadence, and product
quality bar.
You might be a good fit if you have
-
5+ years of product management experience.
-
A strong track record of building excellent user-facing products, ideally in
complex or high-stakes domains.
-
Experience building complex workflows, multi-step journeys, or products for
specialized users.
-
Strong ability to simplify complex information without losing accuracy or
nuance.
-
Experience taking products from 0→1: ambiguity, rough prototypes, fast
iteration, and production-quality execution.
-
High product judgment. You care whether the product actually helps users,
not just whether it ships.
-
Comfort building AI-first or conversational experiences where the interface
is dynamic, probabilistic, and context-aware.
-
Strong analytical skills and comfort using data, research, and qualitative
feedback to make product decisions.
-
Excellent communication and storytelling skills. You can explain product
decisions clearly to engineers, doctors, founders, designers, and
non-product stakeholders.
-
Comfort navigating ambiguity and taking ownership of broad initiatives.
-
Deep empathy for users dealing with stress, confusion, illness, uncertainty,
and fragmented healthcare systems.
-
A high bar for product quality and a low-ego approach to feedback.
How we work
-
High ownership
- We are a small team building in uncharted territory. You will own
outcomes, not specs. When something matters, you will take it from vague
idea to shipped product.
-
Clinical safety first
- We move fast, but not recklessly. In healthcare, clarity, privacy,
escalation, and user trust are core parts of the product experience.
-
Direct feedback
- We give clear, honest feedback and expect low-ego collaboration. The
standard is high because the work matters.
-
Obsessive craft
- We care about the details: the wording of a response, the hierarchy of a
warning, the timing of a follow-up, the feel of an interaction, and the
trust a user feels in a vulnerable moment.
-
Pragmatic AI
- We do not build AI demos. We build product experiences that work in the
real world, with measurable quality, clear failure modes, and fast iteration
loops.
Why August
Healthcare systems around the world are overloaded. Millions of people are
left alone with symptoms, reports, prescriptions, and uncertainty at exactly
the moments when they need clarity most.
August is building AI that can be available in those moments: accurate,
empathetic, clinically grounded, and increasingly capable of doing real
clinical work with the right safety and oversight.
As a product manager at August, you will not just write specs or manage
roadmaps. You will shape how people understand and trust autonomous clinical
AI. You will help define the product language, interaction patterns, product
systems, and user experience for a category that is still being invented.
You will join early enough to shape the culture and product direction, but
late enough that your work will reach real users quickly.
