1. Job Purpose

The DBA Microsoft SQL Server will be primarily responsible for database administration related to running in production and DR site. Should be a strategist and implementer with proficiency in managing database operations along with mapping requirements, custom devised solutions, and troubleshooting for complex database-associated operational tasks.

2. Minimum Qualifications/Education/Experience/Training/Knowledge

Qualifications and Education:

The jobholder should have a bachelor degree in Computer Science / Information Technology or equivalent professional qualification in a related engineering discipline with at least 8 years of total experience in similar fields.

Experience:

Should have minimum 8 years of professional experience in the IT industry as a Microsoft SQL Database Administrator with hands-on experience in installation and administration of MS SQL Server both standard & enterprise on Windows platforms.

Training:

Windows cluster Technology – Microsoft.
Microsoft Certified SQL DBA
Oracle certified professional.
Windows Server Operating System Certifications – Microsoft.

Knowledge:

Excellent analytical and design skills at multi-product/multi-environment level.
Should have experience in backup and recovery strategies through physical and logical backup technology.
Excellent knowledge of managing Microsoft SQL database running on Windows servers technology at least manage both MS SQL enterprise version with various enterprise business applications in production mode.
Expert knowledge of capacity management, performance monitoring, and system optimization.
Knowledge troubleshooting of operating system windows 2016/2019 with Microsoft cluster technology.
Depth knowledge in Monitoring the log shipping and log Sync between production Database and standby database (DATA GUARD).
Should have operational knowledge for database refresh using RMAN backup.
Management of ASM and Real Application Cluster databases.
Knowledge in Flashback Technology & Identifying the performance issue with ASH & AWR.
As part of stakeholder management knowledge in configuring Database related scripts on Red Hat Linux for daily reports.
Should have experience in backup and recovery strategies through physical and logical backup technology.

3. Job Accountabilities and Current Objectives

Job Accountability Skill Sets

Maintain and manage DBMS data file. Manage DBMS system disk with slicing and placing.
- Manage space for database and related file systems running with Windows servers.
- Maintain system-level database software requiring Super User access (sysdba).
- Hands-on experience for Start and stop the database gracefully.
- Maintain basic standard utility scripts and procedures.
- Determine impact of the DBMS faults for customers' business processes. Respond and repair DBMS faults.
Escalate, as needed, DBMS fault support requests with the DBMS vendor.
- Provide communication to the application team internally for planned changes in product functionality that may impact application support when database software maintenance is applied.
- Provide database restores to recover databases that are inaccessible because of system hardware or system software failures.
Hands-on experience in managing Windows Server OS 2016/2019 with Clustering technology, creation, upgrade, patching and L1/L2 support with agreed SLA.
- Resolve all Windows operating system related problems, incidents, and issues.
Oracle Tablespace resizes.
- Database housekeeping activity (purging, index rebuilding, reorganization, gathering statistics) in coordination with application support team.
- Deadlock issue check and escalate to application/development team.
- User, profile creation and management.
- Provide timely escalation of complex problems to a technical support resource and/or to the appropriate level of senior staff.
- Initiating backups at disk level on scheduled or ad hoc basis.
- Starting and stopping database.
Disk space management, user profile creation, and user rights management.
- Creation & administration of all database objects, including tables, indexes, views, sequences, packages, procedures, and database replication.
- Resolution of database start-up problems and database reorganization.

4. Operating Environment

24/7 production Operations

The jobholder will meet and work with all sections and departments with external stakeholders. He will be reporting to Team Leader on a daily basis regarding issues, business/operational needs, and incident management.

5. Availability

The jobholder will work in standard office hours and should be available on a 24/7/365 basis, to intervene in emergencies or when situation demands. The jobholder will work in a controlled environment.
