Key Responsibilities
1. Mold Development & Technical Evaluation
-
Manage the complete mold development process, from understanding product
requirements and reviewing concepts to design approval, manufacturing,
trials and final implementation.
-
Review mold designs, technical drawings and specifications to ensure
product quality, manufacturability, ease of maintenance and production
efficiency.
-
Coordinate mold development for new products and modifications to existing
molds, based on business and plant requirements.
2. Mold Trials & Production Implementation
-
Coordinate mold trials, evaluate trial results and identify design or
process-related issues.
-
Drive corrective actions to resolve defects, dimensional variations and
other quality concerns before final approval.
-
Ensure timely mold readiness, successful validation and smooth handover to
production teams.
3. Cost Reduction & Value Engineering
-
Identify opportunities to reduce mold development costs through design
optimization, supplier negotiations, standardization and value
engineering.
-
Improve mold life and reduce maintenance and repair costs without
compromising quality or performance.
-
Develop cost-effective tooling solutions aligned with manufacturing and
business requirements.
4. Productivity & Operational Excellence
-
Drive improvements in cycle time, production output, rejection rates,
downtime and ease of operation through mold design and tooling
improvements.
-
Monitor mold performance after implementation and initiate corrective
actions wherever required.
-
Promote innovative mold designs and standardization of components and
practices across manufacturing plants.
5. Vendor & Cross-Functional Coordination
-
Work closely with external mold manufacturers, tool makers and suppliers
to ensure timely delivery, technical accuracy and cost effectiveness.
-
Coordinate with production, maintenance, quality, purchase, design,
R&D and plant leadership teams.
-
Monitor supplier performance and support the development of reliable mold
development partners.
6. Project Management & Reporting
-
Manage multiple mold development projects, track timelines and ensure
timely completion.
-
Maintain mold drawings, specifications, trial reports, cost sheets,
approvals and project status records.
-
Track performance against quality, cost, delivery and productivity
targets.
What We Are Looking For
-
Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Tool Design,
Plastics Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or a related discipline.
-
8–12 years of relevant experience in mold development, mold design,
tooling or plastics manufacturing.
-
Strong practical knowledge of mold design, tooling materials, mold
manufacturing processes, trials, validation and production implementation.
-
Experience working with external mold manufacturers and tool makers.
-
Understanding of plastic injection molding and relevant polymer products.
Experience in pipe fittings or related plastics manufacturing will be
advantageous.
-
Proven exposure to cost reduction, value engineering, cycle time
optimization, rejection reduction and mold life improvement.
-
Ability to review technical drawings and assess mold design feasibility.
-
Experience coordinating with multiple manufacturing plants and
cross-functional teams will be preferred.
-
Strong project management, problem-solving, vendor management and
communication skills.
Who Should Apply?
We are particularly interested in professionals who have
hands-on experience in new mold development and the ability to take molds
from design stage through trials to stable production
.
Candidates from plastic pipe fittings and related plastics manufacturing
will be preferred. Professionals from other injection-molded plastic
component industries may also be considered if they have strong mold
development expertise and relevant tooling experience.
This role is best suited for someone who combines technical knowledge with
commercial understanding and can deliver measurable improvements in tooling
cost, quality, mold life and manufacturing productivity.
Interested candidates may share their updated CV along with current CTC,
expected CTC, notice period and relevant mold development experience.
