Position:
Manager – Plant Engineering (Extrusion)
Reporting To:
Plant Head
1. Role Purpose
The Manager – Plant Engineering is responsible for leading the plant’s
maintenance, engineering, automation, and reliability functions to ensure
maximum equipment uptime, operational efficiency, cost optimization, and
adherence to safety and quality standards. The role also drives innovation,
energy efficiency, and continuous improvement initiatives aligned with
organizational goals.
2. Educational Qualification
-
B.E. / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from a reputed and recognized
institute/university
3. Experience
-
10–12 years of experience in a manufacturing setup
-
Minimum 10 years in plant maintenance/engineering in a fast-paced
manufacturing environment
4. Technical Competencies

Strong knowledge of plant maintenance systems (Preventive & Predictive
Maintenance)

Experience with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems)

6. Key Responsibilities
A. Plant Maintenance & Reliability
-
Ensure maximum equipment availability and plant uptime
-
Develop and implement Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM) schedules
-
Monitor and control maintenance activities through CMMS
-
Reduce downtime and improve MTBF and MTTR
-
Plan and execute maintenance shutdowns effectively
-
Manage maintenance budgets, forecasting, and cost optimization
-
Lead breakdown analysis and implement corrective/preventive actions
-
Coordinate with cross-functional teams for smooth plant operations
B. Process Automation & Optimization
-
Identify and implement automation opportunities to reduce manpower and cost
-
Improve efficiency of existing manual processes
-
Support digitalization and smart maintenance initiatives
C. Environment, Health & Safety (EHS)
-
Ensure compliance with all EHS standards and policies
-
Participate in accident/incident investigations
-
Conduct safety audits and implement corrective actions
-
Promote safe work practices across the department
D. Continuous Improvement (MOE / Lean Initiatives)

Lead 5S implementation and sustainment
-
Drive Kaizen and Small Group Activities (SGA) culture

Ensure team participation in improvement initiatives

Improve maintenance practices using scientific tools and methodologies
E. Energy Management & Sustainability

Drive energy-saving projects and cost optimization (Unit/Kg)

Monitor plant power consumption and efficiency

Lead solar and other renewable energy initiatives

Develop and execute energy conservation roadmaps
F. Project Management (CAPEX & Technical Projects)

Prepare and manage annual maintenance and CAPEX budgets

Lead technical, civil, and innovation projects

Ensure timely commissioning and “Put to Use” of new equipment

Track project effectiveness and sustainability
