Job Purpose
The Resin Quality Officer is responsible for monitoring, testing, and ensuring the quality consistency of resins used in MDF manufacturing. The role focuses on laboratory testing, process validation, compliance with quality standards, and coordination with resin production and MDF operations to ensure stable board quality and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
1. Resin Quality Testing & Control
- Perform routine and special tests on resin samples (UF / MUF / PF) including:
- Viscosity
- Gel time
- pH
- Solids content
- Free formaldehyde
- Reactivity and shelf life
- Ensure resin quality meets defined MDF production specifications.
- Approve or reject resin batches based on test results.
2. Process Monitoring & Validation
- Monitor critical resin process parameters during production.
- Identify quality deviations and coordinate corrective actions with the Resin Officer and Production team.
- Support optimization of resin formulation and process stability.
3. Laboratory Management
- Maintain laboratory equipment, instruments, and calibration schedules.
- Ensure proper chemical storage, labeling, and MSDS availability.
- Maintain cleanliness, safety, and compliance of resin QC laboratory.
4. Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain daily resin quality reports, batch test records, and trend analysis.
- Prepare quality reports for management review.
- Ensure traceability of resin batches used in MDF production.
- Support ISO, FSC, CARB, E1/E0, and internal quality audits.
5. Compliance & Standards
- Ensure compliance with internal quality standards, customer specifications, and statutory requirements.
- Monitor formaldehyde emission control requirements related to resin quality.
- Support environmental and regulatory compliance initiatives.
6. Coordination & Communication
- Coordinate with Resin Plant, MDF Production, QC Board Testing, and Maintenance teams.
- Communicate quality deviations promptly to concerned departments.
- Support trial runs, new raw material evaluation, and process improvements.
7. Safety, Health & Environment
- Follow and enforce safety procedures related to chemical handling and laboratory operations.
- Ensure use of PPE in the lab and resin plant areas.
- Report unsafe conditions, near misses, or quality-related safety risks.
