Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Automation Test Engineer
with strong expertise in the Karate Framework and Kafka-based message testing.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in validating event-driven
and distributed systems, ensuring data accuracy and integrity across Kafka
pipelines, and working with both relational and NoSQL databases. This role
involves designing and executing robust automation test strategies for APIs,
messaging systems, and backend data validation. The candidate should be
comfortable collaborating with development, DevOps, QA, and product teams in
an Agile delivery environment and should possess strong troubleshooting and
analytical skills.
Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts using the Karate
Framework for API and message-based testing.

Create and execute test plans, test scenarios, and test cases to validate
Kafka-based event- driven workflows.

Validate message production, consumption, and processing across Kafka topics
and partitions.

Ensure the integrity, accuracy, and consistency of data flowing through
Kafka pipelines.

Perform message validation involving JSON, Avro, and Kafka payloads,
including serialization and deserialization checks.

Work extensively on Kafka client configuration, topic-level validations, and
troubleshooting issues related to producers, consumers, and partitions.

Validate data across upstream and downstream systems to ensure correct
mapping and transformation logic.

Write and execute SQL queries in Oracle and perform data validation in
MongoDB based on business and mapping requirements.

Collaborate with developers and business stakeholders to understand system
flows, event contracts, and expected outputs.

Participate in test strategy discussions, defect triage, root cause
analysis, and quality improvement initiatives.

Integrate automation tests within CI/CD pipelines to support continuous
testing and faster release cycles.

Use tools such as Postman, Git, and defect/test management tools for test
execution, version control, and collaboration.

Actively participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily
stand-ups, retrospectives, and backlog grooming.
Required Technical Skills
Must-Have Skills
- Strong hands-on experience in Automation Testing
- Expertise in Karate Framework
- Strong working knowledge of Apache Kafka
- Experience in message/event-driven architecture testing
- Hands-on experience in testing Kafka messages using:
- JSON
- Avro
- Kafka event payloads
- Strong understanding of Kafka concepts such as:
- Topics
- Partitions
- Producers
- Consumers
- Offsets
- Kafka security basics

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or
