Eternis has continuously expanded its product portfolio over the years, delivering innovative and cutting-edge solutions that drive success for its global customers. At the core of its journey is a commitment to Innovation, Quality and Sustainability, which continues to shape its reputation as a trusted partner in the aroma chemicals industry.

History & timeline – Mariwala Group

The legacy of the Mariwala family began in the early 1900s when Shri Kanji Morarji founded a pepper trading business, earning the family the affectionate moniker of Mariwala meaning “pepper sellers”.

This entrepreneurial spirit laid the foundation for future ventures, and by 1940, the “Bombay Oil Industries” was formed, marking a significant milestone in their industrial journey. A decade later, the company ventured into coconut oil manufacturing, setting up a factory in Mumbai. This was the birth of one of India’s most iconic brands - Parachute, a name synonymous with quality and trust.

The 1960s saw successful diversification into oleo chemicals and spice oleoresins expanding the family’s footprint in the chemical and food ingredients sector. The 1990s marked a transformative phase in the establishment of Marico Ltd. – a name that has grown as one of the most successful consumer goods brands in India. Around the same time, the foundation for Eternis was laid under the name Hindustan Polyamides & Fibers Limited, setting the stage for its emergence as a leader in aroma chemicals.
