Head of Human Resources – India
Location: Gurgaon
Work Schedule: WFO / 9:30 AM – 6:00 PM
Role Summary
The Head of HR – India is a senior leadership role at Milliman India,
responsible for driving the people strategy across multiple practices and
functions including actuarial, technology, healthcare, and business services
across Gurgaon, Mumbai, and Sri Lanka. The role will lead the India HR team
covering Talent Acquisition, HR Operations & Systems, Employee Engagement, and
people practices, while partnering closely with Global HR and business
leadership on key HR programs, talent initiatives, and organizational
policies.
Key Responsibilities

Strategic HR Leadership & Business Partnership

Develop and execute a firm‑wide HR strategy aligned to business
priorities, growth plans, and global people agenda.

Drive global initiatives to local execution, supporting practice
expansion and digital enablement.

Manage the interface between Local HR and Global HR – ensuring clarity
of roles, effective handoffs, and collaborative problem solving.

Lead the India HR operations and act as a trusted advisor to practice
leaders on workforce strategy, talent management, and organizational
health.

Local HR Team Leadership & Operational Excellence

Lead and mentor local HR team covering HR ops, HRIS, talent acquisition.

Drive Team events & engagement – local celebrations, offsites,
recognition programs.

Drive operational excellence, compliance, and continuous improvement in
all local processes.

Collaboration with Global HR (Business Partnering & Strategy)

Partner with Global Corporate teams in enabling local services covering

Performance Management
– execute global performance cycles locally, provide inputs on talent
calibration.

Compliance & Strategy
– implement global policies locally, ensure alignment with Indian
labour laws.

Learning & Development
– identify local skill needs and work with Global Corporate Services
to deliver training.

Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning

Partner with leadership team towards manpower planning, succession
planning.

Build hiring strategies across practices, oversee end‑to‑end recruitment
delivery for all India based roles.

Drive direct sourcing, referrals, campus programs and manage niche,
volume, lateral, campus, and leadership hiring.

Strengthen Milliman branding to position as a preferred employer.

HR Operations, Payroll, Governance & Compliance
-
Oversee HR Operations, including compensation, payroll, benefits, HRMS,
employee relations and policy management.

Ensure employee lifecycle support, maintain HRIS (ZingHR) data integrity
and alignment with global systems (UKG/Workday) where required.

Ensure statutory compliance with Indian labour laws and global HR
Policies.

Drive HR analytics, automation and standardisation of local HR
processes.

Partner with Global HR, Legal to manage people‑related risks.

Employee Engagement, Wellbeing & DEI
-
Design and execute local engagement initiatives (team events, town
halls, rewards).

Oversee wellbeing programs and champion DEI efforts locally, ensuring
credibility and impact.

Culture, Ethics & Employee Relations

Champion firm values, ethics, independence, and professional conduct.

Foster a high‑performance, inclusive, and respectful culture consistent
with global consulting norms.

Provide senior oversight on sensitive employee relations matters,
investigations, grievances, and disciplinary processes.
Experience & Qualifications
Essential
-
15–18 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 4–5 years in a
leadership role (HR Head / Senior HR Manager) managing ~ 1000 employees.

Experience in consulting, analytics, technology, or professional services
environments strongly preferred.

Deep expertise in HR strategy, HR operations and talent management.

Strong background in talent acquisition across diverse roles (tech,
actuarial, healthcare, non‑tech).

Hands‑on experience with ZingHR (local) and familiarity with UKG/Workday
(global).
This is an office-based leadership role requiring office presence 5 days a
week, with occasional WFH based on business needs.
