About the Role
We are seeking a qualified Actuary to lead the pricing and reporting team at Acko Life, a fast-growing digital
insurer. This is a high-impact role for a strategic thinker who will be instrumental in building actuarial capabilities
across retail and group pricing, monthly valuation, Ind AS 117 reporting, modelling, VNB computation, and
stakeholder management.
The successful candidate will move beyond a purely pricing/valuation-centric remit to help build a comprehensive
actuarial function, driving innovation, efficiency, and robust governance.
Key Responsibilities
Core Actuarial Delivery
○ Price new retail and group products in line with IRDAI pricing regulations
○ Manage the group pricing function — generate group quotes and provide profitability inputs to the
sales and management
○ Model product cashflows in the actuarial system (Python / RAFM), including testing and validation of
results
○ Compute VNB for retail and long-term group products for management information decks, using
IEV/EV methodology
○ Prepare monthly and quarterly IGAAP reserves and solvency computations
○ Lead the transition to Ind AS 117 and manage related ongoing reporting
○ Manage the Company's reinsurance administration
○ Support IRDAI regulatory filings, including product filings (UIN process) and actuarial certifications
Expanded Actuarial Capabilities
○ Build and mature capabilities across the full actuarial function, including but not limited to:
○ Reserving & Financial Reporting: Ind AS 117, IGAAP, and other IRDAI statutory reporting
requirements
○ Capital Modelling: Solvency and IRDAI Risk-Based Capital (RBC) framework
○ Profit Management: VNB, Embedded Value and Asset-Liability Management (ALM)
○ Data Science & Analytics: advanced analytics to inform business strategy
○ Pricing: support for complex, large-market pricing exercises
○ Reinsurance: Manage Reinsurer relation and computation
• Team Management & Development
○ Recruit, mentor, and lead a high-performing team of analysts and interns
○ Foster a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and excellence
○ Manage stakeholder relationships with the Appointed Actuary, Finance, IT, and other senior leaders
• Stakeholder & Governance Management
○ Act as the primary point of contact for actuarial-related queries with Compliance, Audit, IT, and
Finance
○ Support internal, statutory, and IRDAI-appointed auditors and concurrent auditors on actuarial matters
○ Prepare actuarial inputs for Board, Risk Committee, and ALCO packs as required
Qualifications and Experience
○ Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries of India (IAI) or the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA).
○ 5+ years of progressive actuarial experience within a Indian Life Insurance company, in Pricing or
Reporting
○ Working knowledge of actuarial/modelling systems (e.g. Python, RAFM, Prophet, AXIS, or similar)
○ Exceptional communication, influencing, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to
navigate a complex, matrixed organization
