Role: Manager – Process Intensification (PIC)
Department: Process Intensification Cell (PIC)
Reports To: AVP – Process Intensification
Job Purpose
The role is responsible for process development and scale-up through process
engineering and process intensification of existing molecules. The position
focuses on improving manufacturing efficiency, optimizing processes, enhancing
yield, and reducing waste, energy, and operational costs through continuous
improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Process Development & Process Engineering

Conduct detailed studies of existing manufacturing processes including
process operations, inconsistencies, material and energy balance, process
micro-activities, equipment mapping, and data analysis.

Perform deviation analysis to identify improvement opportunities within
manufacturing processes.

Identify, evaluate, and execute projects aimed at improving product quality,
production capacity, and process yield while reducing material usage, waste
generation, water consumption, and utilities.

Identify and implement energy conservation initiatives within manufacturing
operations.

Drive waste reduction initiatives through process modifications and recovery
of value-added products.

Prioritize improvement projects based on safety, cost, and market
requirements.
Process Optimization & Plant Trials

Prepare process documentation and support equipment modifications for
process improvements.

Execute plant trials based on modified processes and analyze trial batches.

Identify gaps between actual and desired process outcomes and collaborate
with cross-functional teams to address them.

Streamline processes by resolving operational gaps and standardizing
modified processes.

Conduct cost-benefit analysis for process improvements and implement
permanent process modifications.

Handover optimized and standardized processes to plant operations teams.
Process Innovation & Technology Development

Lead initiatives in process development and scale-up for new technologies
and process improvements.

Conduct studies on multiphase reactions, catalysis, and continuous flow
reactions.

Identify opportunities to replace existing processes with more efficient,
cost-effective, and environmentally sustainable alternatives.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

Improvement in process yield and reduction in material usage, waste
generation, and utilities consumption.
- Timely execution of continuous improvement projects.
- Production capacity enhancement.
- Reduction in carbon footprint through optimized processes.
Educational Qualifications
Mandatory:
- Master’s Degree in Chemical Engineering
Preferred:
- M.Tech / M.Chem from reputed institutes such as ICT, IIT, or BHU
Experience

8–10 years of industrial experience in process engineering or process
development.
