Purpose of the role:
To support NHS organisations and wider healthcare systems in improving
financial sustainability, operational performance, and patient outcomes
through risk modelling, analytics, and data-driven insights. The role involves
designing and delivering quantitative models and analytical solutions, while
working flexibly across multiple projects and business domains.
Key responsibilities:

Develop and implement risk, forecasting, and scenario models to support NHS
operational and financial decision-making (e.g., demand, capacity, waiting
lists, workforce planning)

Conduct benchmarking analyses across NHS organisations to identify variation
in performance, productivity, and financial outcomes

Perform scenario and sensitivity analysis to assess financial and
operational risks

Analyse large datasets to generate actionable insights
-
Develop dashboards, reports, and presentations to communicate insights
effectively

Work flexibly across multiple projects, clients, and areas of specialism,
contributing to both proposals and delivery

Ensure adherence to data governance, NHS standards, and regulatory
requirements
Education and qualifications

Degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g., mathematics, statistics,
economics, engineering)

Postgraduate qualification (e.g., MSc, MBA, or equivalent) preferred
Skills & Experience:
Core skills and experience required for this role include:

Strong experience in risk modelling, financial modelling, or data analytics
-
Proficiency in tools such as Excel, Alteryx, Python, and/or BI tools (Power
BI, Tableau)

Exposure to risk quantification techniques (e.g., probabilistic modelling,
Monte Carlo simulation)

Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain
complex concepts clearly

Collaborative mindset with ability to work across cross-functional teams and
stakeholders
Desirable skills and experience required for this role include:

Experience working with NHS or healthcare datasets (e.g., SUS, HES, EPR)

Understanding of HRG systems, clinical coding (ICD-10, OPCS), and CC/MCC
logic

Knowledge of NHS financial flows and payment mechanisms

Consulting experience, particularly within public sector or healthcare
environments
