Finance Test Manager
1. Position Overview
The Finance Test Manager will lead testing across insurance finance
applications and interfaces, with particular emphasis on commercial lines.
This role ensures end-to-end data integrity, financial correctness, and
regulatory/commercial reporting readiness. The incumbent will own the testing
strategy for policy accounting, pricing and rating interfaces, actuarial data
exchange, billing and revenue recognition, and the integration of insurance
systems with SAP/GL and other finance platforms. They will oversee API, data
migration, and data-flow validation across multi-system ecosystems (e.g.,
Guidewire, SAP, billing engines, subledger systems), and will ensure proper
data lineage, transformation accuracy, and control-driven test execution in a
compliant, auditable manner.

Own
the overall test strategy, plan, and governance for finance-related software
in a commercial insurance environment.

Ensure
testing covers IFRS17/GAAP financial reporting implications, premium
recognition, unearned premium reserve (UPR), commissions, reinsurance
postings, and reserves impacting the general ledger.

Manage
and grow a testing capability that spans functional, integration, data
migration, API, performance, security, and user acceptance testing.

Lead
cross-functional collaboration with Actuarial, Pricing, Underwriting,
Finance (SAP/ERP), IT Architecture, Data Management, and Compliance
functions.

Drive
automation, data quality, and data governance practices to facilitate
reliable financial reporting and audit readiness.
2. Responsibilities / Job Description
Testing Strategy, Governance & Stakeholder Alignment

Own
end-to-end testing strategy for the insurance finance ecosystem (policy
admin, pricing/rating, billing, commissions, reinsurance interfaces,
SAP/GL/subledger).

Translate
finance, IFRS17/GAAP and regulatory requirements into test plans, acceptance
criteria, and quality gates; set risk-based testing priorities.
Financial Applications & Data Flow Validation
-
Validate
policy accounting, premium recognition, UPR, commissions, refunds, and
reinsurance postings across core systems and finance interfaces.

Ensure
correct GL/subledger postings and data lineage, mapping, transformation, and
reconciliation between insurance systems and finance reporting.

Validate
historic and incremental data migrations to finance data marts; ensure
accuracy and auditability.
API & Integration Testing
-
Plan
and execute API testing across insurance-to-finance interfaces; validate
payloads, transformations, and post-transaction reconciliations.

Perform
API contract testing and security validation (OAuth2, JWT, API Keys); test
resilience for financial interfaces.

Validate
event-driven and batch processes feeding financial postings (Azure Service
Bus, Event Grid, Kafka, etc.).
IFRS17/GAAP, Actuarial & Pricing Coverage

Collaborate
with Actuarial and Pricing to validate outputs used for financial
measurement and revenue recognition.

Validate
IFRS17/GAAP models, contract boundaries, journal entries, and disclosures
produced by finance systems; cover changes in pricing/terms.
Test Automation, Data Quality & Tooling
-
Define
and implement a robust automation strategy; develop reusable libraries and
data-driven artifacts.

Use
API testing tools (Postman, REST Assured, Karate), SQL/NoSQL data
validation, and schema validation; implement data masking and secure test
data management.
CI/CD & Environment Management
-
Integrate
test automation with CI/CD pipelines; manage test environments and data
refresh strategies; ensure traceability from requirements to tests to
defects.
Quality Metrics, Audit Readiness & Reporting
-
Define
and track quality metrics (defect leakage, coverage, automation ROI, data
reconciliation success, regulatory readiness).

Deliver
auditable test artifacts and reporting for governance and regulatory audits;
lead defect triage and root-cause analysis.
People, Risk & Stakeholder Management

Lead
and mentor the testing team; plan resources and skill development.

Foster
strong collaboration with Finance, Actuarial, IT Architecture, ERP, Data
Management, and Compliance; manage risk and maintain risk registers.
Security, Compliance & Data Protection

Ensure
testing practices comply with data privacy and security requirements,
support audit trails and governance of test artifacts.

4. Education and Certification

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Finance,
Accounting, Insurance or a related discipline. Master’s degree preferred.

Experience:
10+ years in software quality assurance/testing in financial services or
insurance industries; minimum 6+ years in insurance finance-related testing
or ERP integration testing.

Certifications:
ISTQB Advanced or equivalent; SAP Testing Certification or IFRS 17 training;
Agile/Scrum certification desirable, III (Associate or Fellowship) or
equivalent in General Insurance.

Demonstrated experience:
leading major testing/digital transformation initiatives across multi-system
environments (insurance core systems, pricing, actuaries, billing, and
SAP/ERP).
