Key Responsibilities

Commissioning & Testing

• Lead and execute commissioning activities for Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) including battery racks, PCS/inverters, transformers, and associated equipment.
• Perform functional, pre-commissioning, and performance testing of battery systems.
• Ensure successful integration of BESS with SCADA, EMS, protection systems, and grid infrastructure.
• Validate control logic, system responses, and grid synchronization parameters.

Technical Execution

• Review engineering drawings, SLDs, wiring diagrams, protection schemes, and OEM manuals before commissioning.
• Monitor system performance and ensure compliance with project specifications and JSW standards.
• Coordinate with OEMs, EPC contractors, electrical teams, and SCADA engineers to resolve technical issues.
• Perform root-cause analysis on system failures, alarms, or integration issues.

Safety & Compliance

• Ensure all commissioning activities align with safety guidelines and electrical standards.
• Maintain documentation including commissioning reports, FAT/SAT records, issue logs, and performance data.

Project Coordination

• Work closely with project managers, site execution teams, and client stakeholders during project rollout.
• Support the handover process to operations teams post-commissioning.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering / Power Systems / Electronics or related field.
• 10+ years of experience in commissioning of BESS, solar/wind projects, or power systems.
• Hands-on experience with lithium-ion battery systems, PCS/inverters, transformers, and MV/LV equipment.
• Strong understanding of SCADA, EMS, communication protocols (Modbus, IEC 61850, TCP/IP).
• Experience with site testing tools (IV curve tester, relay testing kits, multimeters, etc.).
• Knowledge of grid codes, safety protocols, and protection equipment.
