Key Responsibilities

Environment Strategy & Governance

Define and maintain the end-to-end environment landscape (Dev, SIT, UAT, Pre-Prod, Production), ensuring alignment with SDLC stages.

Establish and enforce environment policies, standards, and access controls across teams.

Own environment roadmaps, capacity plans, and lifecycle management.

Maintain a centralised environment register with up-to-date topology, ownership, and configuration details.

Release & Deployment Coordination

Coordinate environment bookings, release windows, and deployment schedules to minimise conflicts and downtime.

Collaborate with release managers and Scrum masters to schedule and sequence builds across parallel workstreams.

Ensure environment readiness prior to test cycles, UAT sign-off, and production releases.

Configuration & Stability

Own configuration management practices to ensure environment parity and drift detection.

Drive root-cause analysis for environment-related incidents and implement preventive measures.

Work with infrastructure and cloud teams to manage provisioning, patching, and decommissioning.

Tooling & Automation

Champion the adoption of infrastructure-as-code and environment-as-code practices.

Identify and implement tooling improvements across CI/CD pipelines and environment orchestration.

Drive automation of environment provisioning, seeding, and reset processes.

Stakeholder Management

Act as the single point of contact for environment-related queries from development, testing, and business teams.

Produce clear dashboards and status reports on environment health, utilisation, and upcoming changes.

Manage third-party vendor relationships where relevant to environment tooling and services.

Required Qualifications

• 6–10 years of experience in environment management, DevOps, or release engineering roles within software product organisations.
• Deep understanding of SDLC, release management, and environment promotion workflows.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, or similar).
• Proficiency with cloud platforms — AWS, Azure, or GCP — and containerised environments (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation.
• Strong understanding of configuration management and environment parity best practices.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to coordinate across cross-functional, distributed teams.

Nice to Have

• Experience with service virtualisation, environment simulation, or test data management.
• Familiarity with ITIL or SAFe frameworks within enterprise delivery programmes.
• Exposure to observability tooling (Datadog, Dynatrace, Grafana, or similar).
• Relevant certifications: AWS/Azure DevOps, ITIL 4, or Kubernetes (CKA).
