Role Overview:
Work on design and implementation of power evacuation systems for utility-scale Solar, Wind, and BESS projects. Requires expertise in pooling substations (33kV-220kV), transmission lines (220kV/400kV), grid interconnection, and regulatory compliance with Indian Grid Code and latest CEA guidelines .
• Design PSS capacity, layout, and SLDs based on load flow analysis and grid requirements; size power transformers, switchgear (AIS/GIS), and reactive compensation (SVG/STATCOM) per CEA Technical Standards
• Design protection systems, relay coordination, and fault analysis ensuring grid code compliance for voltage ride-through and frequency support
• Conduct technical evaluation of transformers, breakers, isolators, CTs/PTs, and protection relays; assess vendors per IEC/IEEE standards
• Design 220kV/400kV transmission systems; select towers and conductors (ACSR/AAAC) based on power flow, mechanical strength, and CEA Safety Regulations
• Review route surveys, ROW constraints, and validate BoQs for conductor quantities, tower counts, and foundation specifications
• Evaluate transmission EPC contractors based on technical capability, CEA compliance, and execution track record
• Define GSS interconnection requirements (bay allocation, metering, protection); coordinate with STU/CTU for grid approvals and LTA compliance
• Ensure SLDC/NLDC compliance for SCADA/telemetry, real-time data exchange, and URTDSM framework implementation
• Maintain adherence to Indian Grid Code, CEA (Grid Code) Regulations, CTU standards, and IEGC/SERC requirements
• Conduct loss analysis, load flow studies, short circuit analysis, and optimize equipment selection for 25-year OPEX efficiency
• Prepare technical specifications, design reports, SLDs, and BoQs; coordinate with SCADA, protection, and civil teams
• Education: B.E./B.Tech Electrical Engineering (Electrical/Power Systems preferred)
• Experience: 12-15 years in power evacuation for utility-scale renewable projects; minimum
5 years at DGM/AGM level; proven track record with 220kV/400kV substations and transmission lines for 500+ MW projects
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in ETAP/PSS/E/PSCAD; AutoCAD/Revit for electrical layouts
These competencies could help you better succeed in this role:
• Strategic optimization of power evacuation solutions balancing technical performance and commercial viability
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for complex grid interconnection challenges
• Excellent stakeholder management with STU/CTU, DISCOMs, RLDC/SLDC, and regulatory authorities
• Ability to manage multiple utility-scale projects simultaneously.
• Timely completion of designs, technical documentation, and grid connectivity approvals
• Quality of technical evaluations, vendor assessments, and transmission loss optimization
• Zero non-conformities with CEA/Grid Code requirements and cost optimization while maintaining technical standards
